We stayed at the Makaha resort hoping to be a little outside the city and still enjoy the island. This resort is old and not very clean. When I reported seeing four geckos living in our room, the staff was not helpful and suggested we check out two days early and contact our travel agent for a partial refund. Our trip also included a spa credit and the website advertises the spa is open 8am-5pm, when we arrived they notified us it is only open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Wednesday at Noon I inquired about appointments to find out they closed because they didn't have any appointments booked. In addition to unclean rooms & rude staff, we were notified upon arrival that the golf course is closed for renovations for the next two years. I would only recommend this hotel as a last resort.

Never mind the harsh reviews others have written. This is a wonderful, courteous and economical place to stay. If you want "high-end" accommodations, stay in Waikiki. If you are looking for peace and quiet and relaxation, Makaha is your place. Yes it is old, but so are most of the places in crowded Waikiki. Makaha is a good value.

Their course has been trashed by many local teens & mother nature for many of years . Little do people know , the pool closes early because there's no floor lights , their go green progeam is awsome thanks to Nic their resort manager . Their security staff is top shape with safety & hospitality . Unlike these non locals they dont understand the hard qork that people put in for them & their familys . I notice in a review it said they hope something for the canadian owner ? Exactly let locals run that place & you'll see an awsome turn around .

The view on a good sunny day is excellent beautiful. I would not recommend it though...The service is horrible!!! Front desk is rude and house keeping are lazy. There are bugs everywhere bit my kids and I. My daughter got red and broke out my skin started to freaking peel!!! I will say the manger Nick is wonderful, nice curetious, friendly, very helpful so is Tui he works front desk cant say the same for other staff. If you looking for trip and really dont care for the rest Makaha is your place. Very very disappointed

Beautiful views and greenery. The only service that was okay, and in fact was pretty good, was the friendliness of the maids, and the bartender who several times took ours and our kid's orders. Other than that, help went down the drain. The pool is fantastic, but closes early. You have to walk for Internet, and usually can only get it sitting in the hot hotel front area. It does say near the pool, but only one out of five of us could pick up the service on the computers. If I get on a computer, I'll write a full review.
