I don't know if they have decided to not have a hostess anymore (although it was a busy Friday night and didn't make sense that they wouldn't) but we stood waiting for almost 20 minutes without being acknowledged in any way. NO - we'll be right with you, we have a waiting list, nothing. There were a couple people in front of us that finally got a table and I thought we might be acknowledged at that point. Still nothing. At this point there was a line to the door and except for an occasional very slow waitress meandering by, we saw no other staff. At that point my husband called The Great Impasta in Brunswick and got us a table there. That was a fantastic meal. We wanted to stay in our home town but will probably go to Solo Bistro next time instead anyway. That place is wonderful and has fantastic service.

Fantastic food, personable and efficient wait staff, great location and atmosphere! Pricy, but worth it for a special occasion!

The food was okay, the view definitely made the experience palatable. Was there six months ago and they were AWESOME! Now...not so much. Something is definitely missing in their kitchen.

We have eaten here 5-6 times. The location is beautiful, right on the water. The food is mediocre -- the burgers are OK; however, we haven't found any other item on the menu we would order twice. This review though was actually sparked by one of the worst hospitality service experiences I've had in many years of worldly travels. We sat on the deck. Because it was sunny, we got permission to put up the umbrella. While enjoying a cold beer and after we had ordered, a kid who works there comes by and starts to put the umbrella down over us without any explanation. I objected and asked for our check and to see a manager, whereupon a heavy, bald manager with a beard comes out and furiously demands to put the umbrella down -- imagine an out-of-control drill sergeant -- I explained that we wanted to clarify because we had been told it was fine before the kids came by and just started taking it down. Enraged, the "manager' said the waitress was wrong and if it was left up it would blow away and hurt people (it was fixed through a table and anchored with 50 lbs of concrete in virtually no breeze). He then told us to go sit somewhere else (which ironically tuned out be better). As soon as he walked away, the waitress appeared and was a true professional -- she apologized profusely for the "managers" unprofessional behavior noting he should have never spoke to customers that way. We assured her it wasn't her fault but we'll be hard-pressed to return. The manager has no business being in hospitality and, now that I think of it, would probably be fired in any industry for behaving that way towards clients or customers.

Had a family gathering at the Kennebec Tavern Restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. We were a party of 10 so we ordered many different items off the menu. The seafood was fresh and cooked just right. The salads were crisp and generous. Try the strawberry mango with their homemade balsamic. We ordered the fried parsnips to give it a try and they were awesome. Oh yes the view was incredible. What more can you ask for. I will return again as soon as I can.

I have been to the Kennebec Tavern three times in the past few years. I'm from Bath and hope and pray each time it has improved. It hasn't. The view is terrific; the wait staff are friendly but glacially slow. And the food is really, really disappointing. On our first visit, a lobster that had obviously been cooked some time before and then refrigerated before being reheated (NEVER DO THAT) came with jet black tomally and tough meat. The waitress said she wouldn't eat it either. The second time nothing was really bad--just not great. Fish was overcooked and vegetables also--and cold. The last time (and it really is the last time for me), the roast pork special was so tough that they took one entree off the bill because we complained. ('56 Morse)

It won't be long now with the Marina in and the boats starting to arrive. Bring on the Bass. Fish or Ale.
