We all have a role to play in ensuring our waters are healthy, and the Humber is a great example of that; earlier this year, WWF’s Freshwater Health Assessments rated the Humber’s health as fair.
On Canadian Rivers Day, David Miller joined his neighbours to learn more about Toronto’s largest watershed, the Humber, thanks to the Loblaw Water Fund.

Any day now, the Federal Government will make its decision on the Northern Gateway Pipeline. They have said repeatedly that it will only approve this project if it is proven to be safe for people and for our environment. This flawed report proves neither. #fail   #standwithscience
Any day now, the Federal Government will make its decision on the Northern Gateway Pipeline. There is a strong chance that it will make this decision based on a deeply flawed report delivered by the Joint Review Panel.

What does the Joint Review Panel have to say about the proposed Northern Gateway Project?

“We determined what we believed were the major benefits and burdens associated with this project and found that the public interest of Canada was best served by recommending that the project should be approved.”

We disagree. The impact on the public interest of sustaining a stable climate was not considered in the JRP’s recommendation, making it unreliable. Read more:
The Joint Review Panel told the federal government the Northern Gateway Project is in the Public Interest. In June, the government will make its decision.

From coast to coast, Canada has some of the greatest diversity of whales on the planet. Many species were nearly wiped out from centuries of commercial whaling and their recovery remains fragile.

Join us for an exclusive conversation with:
Tonya Wimmer, Manager, Species Conservation, WWF-Canada
Dr. Hal Whitehead, Professor, Dalhousie University
Janie Wray, Researcher, Cetacea Lab
Robert Michaud, Biologist
This Hangout On Air is hosted by WWF Canada. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

There are major concerns with the reliability of the evidence used in the JRP's findings on oil spill risks.
With the approach of the federal government’s decision on the Northern Gateway pipeline and tanker project, WWF looks at flaws in the environmental review.

Grizzly bears, humpback whales, caribou, salmon. What’s the real cost of Northern Gateway pipelines and tankers to Canada’s environment? According to Enbridge and the government’s own review panel, the negative impacts on wildlife and ecosystems would be far-reaching.
