Today, December 16th 2015, my blog (http://authorjaywhales.wix.com/mid-western-stories#!blog/c112v)  has an interview posted with the authors of this military oriented, modern day, classic.

Broken!  by Michael Kearns, Ronald Solomon

Synopsis: Military whistleblower Retired U.S. Air Force Captain Michael S. Kearns and co-author Ronald Solomon expose the dark side of torture, drones, surveillance, weapons of defense and PTSD in their chilling new book, BROKEN!. Based, in part,on Kearns’ experience as a former Master Survival-Evasion-Resistance-Escape (S.E.R.E.) Instructor, with BROKEN!, they share with readers a compelling fictional narrative based on brutal, disturbing facts.

When disgraced S.E.R.E. master instructor Captain Charles “Chauncey” Paunce is asked by the FBI to train the CEOs of the world’s most advanced drone manufacturers to resist torture (by torturing them!), he steps into a conspiracy aimed at breaking the very foundations of American privacy and freedom. With the aid of his expert intelligence skills and a group of former Navy SEALs/SWCCs, Chauncey fights through a web of cutting-edge, weaponized drones, and string of massacres and tortures in the homeland.

From a desolate village in Afghanistan to the Mojave Desert to the skies over San Diego, BROKEN! is a thrill ride that combines real modern-day issues with enhanced robotics, illegal surveillance, explosions and … redemption.

Today, my EXCLUSIVE interview with horror author Lorne Dixon, author of Blue Eel, on my blog, located here:

http://authorjaywhales.wix.com/mid-western-stories#!blog/c112v

Blu Eel by Lorne Dixon:

The horror genre has seen a significant shift in this generation: instead of misty castles and monsters that go bump in the night, today's 'progressive horror' focuses on reflecting the anxieties manifesting in today’s society…and tomorrow’s.

Horror aficionado Lorne Dixon's new book, Blue Eel, explores this genre subset in a thrilling, psychedelic world.

Long suspected of guilt in his daughter's disappearance, Branson Turaco's life takes an abrupt turn when he learns that a lock of her hair has been found in a child predator's home. He buys an unlicensed handgun, enlists the help of a disgraced filmmaker and a desperate intern, and heads out onto the open road. Clinging to the faint hope that his daughter might still be alive, Branson follows a twisted path into an unknown world of terror within a post-human drug cult.

A notable voice in the horror genre, Dixon says the time is right for the progressive horror subset to expand and explore new avenues of storytelling.

"Horror has never been more popular," Dixon explains. "Soccer moms watch The Walking Dead, listen to Rob Zombie and buy tickets to see The Conjuring. The time is ripe for new voices, new ideas and new stories."

In this nail-biting thriller, Blue Eel explores:

·         The impact of Absurdist media crime coverage, similar to the JonBenet Ramsey case: with so much rhetoric about the protagonists filling the public’s consciousness, could the truth ever really satisfy the audience?

·         Moral relativity and situational ethics when the things that matter most are on the line.

·         The changing relationship between storytellers and their readers, with a narrative that largely refuses to place value statements on the events described, leaving the readers responsible for their own interpretations.

THE LAS VEGAS MADAM: THE ESCORTS, THE CLIENTS, THE TRUTH

The Las Vegas Madam: The Escorts, the Clients, the Truth takes you inside the life of a call girl as she spirals into a world of glamour and secrets. When a scandalous news story splashed across mainstream media about an elite escort agency in Las Vegas, people were shocked to learn there was a tiny mastermind behind the company – a small town girl from Oregon named Jami Rodman went by the pseudonym “Haley Heston.” Meet the secret society of high-end escorts and the men who hire them. Rodman unveils the highly lucrative business of sex, the hidden websites and layers of complex networking to satisfy man’s endless desire for sex.

Timed with the 2007 collapse, Vegas cultivated a new, unprecedented class of call girls – ones with brains, beauty and savvy. Together with Rodman’s agency, they cleaned up the soiled reputation of prostitution in Las Vegas. Weathering competition from desperate, violent, and successful pimps and madams, hosting swanky parties, and serving clients in cities that spanned the globe, her agency ruled the oldest profession, for a while.

The Las Vegas Madam is a provocative memoir of one girl’s journey into prostitution and how quickly a fast-paced life built a wedge between her and the very thing she was seeking to begin with – love, friendship and meaning. She replaces loneliness with companionship, both as a hired prostitute and recreationally. In a desperate attempt to bond with others, to be liked, fit in, to escape an oppressive religion, and push the crushing void of emptiness aside, she tries to fill it with sex, drugs, relationships, money and power.

As she rose from a popular call girl into a powerful madam, Rodman discovered most people she met in the sex industry were there for similar reasons – loneliness, isolation from the world around them, and to fill needs that weren’t met elsewhere. She realized she was traveling down a similar path as her clients, and decides to make changes. Inside was a new stronger self who made friends with the old. There were opportunities to find meaning, and provide the same to those around her. It was when she brought those two people together that she learns to love again, have compassion for her clients and herself, and understand what brought her there to begin with.

Interview up on my blog today/Right NOW:

http://authorjaywhales.wix.com/mid-western-stories

Synopsis for My Father's Son: The new book, My Father’s Son, takes an insider’s look at the families of Navy SEALs. What makes them tough, legendary and united is demonstrated in this heartfelt book by author Andy Symonds. Based on his personal experience as the son of a career Navy officer and working closely with a retired Navy SEAL, My Father’s Son shares the story of Nate, a young boy whose father is killed during a Navy SEAL mission.

Embraced by his father’s fellow SEALs, Nate struggles with the normal adolescent angst while living under the shadow of his father heroism. At times funny, and other times almost painfully heart-wrenching, My Father’s Son touches on such contemporary subjects as PTSD, survivor’s guilt, growing up too fast and the sacrifices made by military families.

Biography: Andy Symonds grew up in a military family and moved every two to three years to bases all over the world. He wrote his first novel when he was 10 years old and has been writing ever since. He has written hundreds of newspapers articles, scripts, short stories, and poems. My Father’s Son is his debut novel and has been endorsed by the Special Operations community. Symonds is also working with the Navy SEAL Foundation.
