The HOPE Collaborative hosted the 43rd Annual Children’s Conference last week at the Grove Community Church in Riverside, Ca. The HOPE Collaborative is the Child Abuse Prevention Council for Riverside County. This year, the theme of the conference was Human Trafficking: Reclaiming our Youth, HOPE and Power. The conference provided special training about how to prevent, identify and approach victims of exploitation. YAT staff attended and provided community members information regarding the YAT program as a resource for at risk youth in the community. Thank you HOPE Collaborative for allowing Riverside Probation to be apart of this special event!

On Thursday, hundreds of RCP staff and their family members gathered for the annual Employee Recognition & Awards Ceremony. Held to recognize the achievement of employees in the past year, the event included a slideshow honoring our active duty military members and veterans, videos highlighting our division employees of the year, and a photo booth for friends and family to enjoy. We are proud of our staff and their continued role in bettering our community. Congratulations to all who were recognized at this year’s ceremony!

The heroic efforts of probation officers happens even before the day begins. This morning, Deputy Probation Officer (DPO) Reynolds witnessed and assisted victims involved in a traffic collision. DPO Reynolds observed the accident occur while driving in the City of Hemet. Once the vehicles came to rest, DPO Reynolds responded to the scene and attempted to turn off the engine to one of the vehicles to deter any further incident. He was able to put the vehicle in park and return the keys to the respective owner. DPO Reynolds observed several children inside the vehicle, two of which complained of injury. DPO Reynolds stayed with the victims, providing his jacket for warmth and offering comfort until first responders arrived on scene. It is these moments, RCP extends our gratitude to the outstanding efforts of staff. DPO Reynolds thank you for your dedication to the community and for the heroic efforts of assisting people in a time of need!

YAT impacting young lives once again! A few days ago, teams from Cathedral City/Rancho Mirage and Desert Hot Springs/Palm Springs took 23 minors on an educational field trip to the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, California. The museum was created in 1993 in order to examine racism and prejudice worldwide. The museum also focuses on the history of the Holocaust. Minors had the opportunity to speak to an actual Holocaust survivor who was sent to Auschwitz at the age of 17.
