Best of all: Oppo has teams of 3rd-party ROMs being made.
needrom.com has 46 ROMsfor Oppo phones, but none yet for the Find7; only Find5 has one ROM.

URL to dowvnload the ROM?
I have this phone as well. But I soft-bricked it, by loading in a Playstore app. It has never been ROM modified before. So I can't get to the screen after the first display screen that is launched as it starts booting.

Hello.
Check this url:www.needrom.com/phone-roms/iocean/x7-elite/
I wish I could help you with your problem but I'm not sure I know something about this.
I also advise you to seek the XDA developers forum and seek there for a solution to your problem.

"Cell Phone" in my case, means SMART PHONE: wifi, gps, a-gps, bluetooth, usb, sd-card, removable battery, cameras (2, both capable of still & video), choice of menus, launchers & apps, ...

Without GSM phone turned on, it becomes only a handheld tablet-computer. Not sure why you did not put in SMARTPHONE ... are you an iPhone fanboy, thinking that an iPhone is "smart"?

Fedora-derived means it uses RPM, rather than the DEB files of Ubuntu or Debian distros.

This means that updating from non-official sources is more risky than the DEB distros.

Both brands are listed on Needrom, so ROM updates will be coming.
Rooting looks easy too. 3rd party software will cure camera, etc woes on the original hardware.

You seem unaware of what's happening in the Android world. I often gently try to steer Distrowatch to recognizing Android as a Linux distro.

My next desktop replacement will probable be Android, not a Ubuntu-based distro, not Wndows. Before the end of this year we will have access to true octa-core Android.

On the contrary, I know exactly what you mean.

Netrunner (my favorite atm) uses KDE. It's easy to upgrade, etc ... to the latest kernel, etc.

Young noobs know only so little. Samsung is not just phones, as this video seems to claim. It is a multi-product company, similar to Panasonic, Sony, Lg, Canon, Nikon, etc.

These east Asian companies have few precedents in the "first world". Perhaps General Electric, ...  (USA)? The next puzzles to come are: can we east Asians continue to innovate beyond the secondary industries? When these non-individualists discover individualism, will their goup creativity continue?

Personally, I think not. They use drugs (nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, sucrose, fats, etc) to  try to cope, ATM. Divorce, delinquency, crime, anti-socialism will increase. Similar to Japan now. I've spent the best part of my life in the post-industrial wilderness, researching the possibilities.

Google's Android is the most successful Linux or Unix operating system on the planet, ATM. It has more derivatives, more apps, running a a much wider range of hardware than any other computer operating system. So far.
Linux kernel used by Android is very old. Now Google needs to allow the newest hardware to work better, using the forthcoming and existing new kernels: multi-core CPU-GPU, and better optimization for new hardware: SSD. GPS, sensors (many types), etc.
The East-Asian versions of Android that have been or currently available are so closed-source that hopefully, like Apple & Microsoft, they will be security-holed and hostile to outside code inspection/ improvements. So Google should ensure that, like Chrome, that there is always a Chromium-like open-source version that ensures long term trust and support.
