Amongst the restaurants on 4th Street, Chinato's is a shining star with traditional authentic rustic Italian cuisine. The menu is in Italian but the servers are well trained to explain the details of each dish to give you a meal that will please your pallet. I left feeling pampered and savored my dishes. Take your time and dine!

Disappointing. Over priced and underdelivered. Six of us ordered different entrees and all were dissatisfied. Will not return.

Great outdoor seating in a "happening " area of downtown Cleveland. Chinato offers unique food preparations. Everything was prepared well and the serving sizes are bigger than what you normal get with fine dining. Overall good experience.

We wanted to eat at Lola last night, but the wait was long... so we tried Chinato. The staff was amazingly attentive, the food was tasty, and even tho it was warm outside, and we sat outside, it was a really nice experience. They were very attentive with water, our waitress was really sweet and helpful with making recommendations... All in all, really good! I had the Chicken "Saltimbocca" and it was tasty, and just the right portion. My only complaint would be the price of salad -- thought $10 for a side salad was really steep.

Food was simply blah at first the appetizer was served with the salad?????The mushroom salad was nice and fresh but the fried baby artichokes were over fried and like eating mulch. Our entrees took forever (thought oh good they'll be fresh and hot)when they came out the we're cold WTF sent back not paying these prices for cold food. The manager brought out a complimentary arrachinii (fried rice balls on sauce!? Not that good we've had better at olive garden) my wife's bread was soggy and smelled like lemon?? When the replacement entrees were served they were okay ( of course Pipping hot) but the ravioli tasted a little under cooked and my blackened cod was warm (very small) All in all our dinning experience was very sub par servers standing around cook were all just standing back there BSing not a professionaly run place I water like 15 min to get a water refill and that was after we had to ask for it. Will not return to Chinato and I hope Zak Burrells other establishments are better and this isn't setting the precident.

This restaurant did not live up to high reviews on food or service. It seemed to me to be a half-hearted attempt on many fronts. Bread brought to the table was burnt on the bottom and tasted like it. I ordered an Italian classic fettuccini carbonara and it was simply a disappointment, the pasta was gummy and sauce tasted like raw flour. I was SO surprised about this because it is a basic dish, nothing adventurist here, something any Italian restaurant should be able to do well. Also got the brick flatten chicken breast came out with beautiful presentation, the breast was moist but broth was bland. We had dinner reservations at 5pm and the restaurant was just seating early dinner guest. The waiter was nice and friendly but seemed to be on fast forward. Talked fast and loud, and breezed in and out as if it was busy and the dinning room was only half-full. We enjoyed watching the people on East 4th more than anything else. We like to try new things and unfortunately this was really a disappointment. With so many great restaurants in Cleveland why go back.

Despite the name no this place does not serve Chinese food; on the other hand it does serve some amazing Italian food. I went here last weekend and was impressed by their wine selection, fresh ingredients, and the service. I tried the braised beef and it was succulent, juicy, and prepared perfectly to the point where it melts in your mouth with every bite. As far as an appetizer I would go for the fried artichoke, it was amazingly good and still healthy for you. Definitely a 5 star restaurant, and a great alternative to Lola, (although prices are very similar which is to say kind of expensive)

"The ""main man"" at this place is responsible and the food is very good. We've had the same server 3 times over a period of 5 months and he remembered what we liked...He is working for tips....Just a nice place to go for relaxed atmosphere, original foods, personal service at moderate prices...moderate for Cleveland, not Chicago..."
