We are proud to have raised £272 for the +Youth Cancer Trust, a fantastic charity that provides free activity holidays in Bournemouth for teenagers and young adults with cancer (aged 14 to 30) from anywhere in the UK and Ireland. The holidays are a chance for young people to come to this beautiful part of the country, stay in a safe environment, have a go at activities including horse riding, go karting, arts and crafts, watersports, and sailing, and relax with others who understand what it’s like to have cancer.

We know the way to our Lead Gen team’s hearts alright: food!* We have run a spin-the-wheel incentive for the whole team, with bottles of booze and piles of chocs up for grabs - plus another sub-team incentive for hitting 110% of target, where the winners snagged a free lunch with platters of delicious sandwiches! Free stuff for doing your job – not too shabby!
*and booze. Obviously booze.

‘Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May’ – and while we saw our share of thunderstorms last month, the most electrifying sight was watching our darling buds raise a staggering £2,224.90 for Julia’s House children’s hospice.
This wonderful charity deserves every penny - raised through mufti days, football, a treasure hunt, car wash, auction, cake sale and raffle – and more. Long may they continue to bring sunshine to young lives shaken by the rough winds of life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.

Astute has raised another £150 for Julia’s House thanks to an amazing raffle with fantastic prizes donated by a host of local businesses: Oasis Fun, Ludo Lounge, Rock Reef, Flirt Cafe Bar, NEO Restauant, Koh Thai Tapas Bournemouth, Snowtrax, Bar Afrique and The Barbers all provided prize vouchers, Jo Malone London donated a gift set of fragrance, and A-List Business presented A-List cards and vouchers for The George Tapps Bournemouth, Roosters Piri-Piri, and Dominos Pizza.
All in all, a rafflely good result - especially for multiple winners Mark and Donna (though in fairness, between them they did buy enough tickets to wallpaper a small elephant).

Five rowboats of scurvy knaves answered Astute’s booty call recently, setting off to land on Treasure Island (known to the local cannibals as “Bomo”) to raise funds for Julia’s House.
Each crew of four was tasked with finding treasures ranging from takeaway menus (the sea makes you mighty hungry) to a single flip-flop (for Peg-Leg Pete), whilst getting locals to perform handstands and Charlie’s Angels poses – and ticking off dozens of venues along the way.
50 pieces of eight were raised for charity and the winning crew are pictured here, fresh from the end of night party at Oasis Fun!

Astute is proud to donate over £300 to sponsor Team Light Planking, three intrepid ladies undertaking the gruelling Trailwalker Challenge (100km across the South Downs in just 30 hours!) on behalf of the Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam.
The Gurkha Welfare Trust is a brilliant organisation which aims to provide welfare to enable Gurkha ex-servicemen, their dependants and their communities to live their lives with dignity, primarily in Nepal but increasingly in the UK and elsewhere.

What an amazing effort from the Car Wash’n’Grill team, raising £100 for Julia’s House washing cars and hosting a while-you-wait BBQ. Massive thanks to the team for working so hard, and especially to everyone who came down and made the event such a sparkling success!

May is going to be a big month for Julia’s House if we’ve got anything to do with it!
Already this month we’ve hosted a bake sale and dedicated a Friday mufti day to the cause – bringing us up to £1564.50 already!
If all that wasn’t enough, we’ve been running a raffle for the last six weeks which goes on until the end of the month AND we’re offering a paid day off for the person who raises the most money individually!
Watch this space – it’s going to be a bumper pay day for one of our favourite charities!
