I like this idea, a character building thought for the week! What is your favourite? What additional thoughts would you add to the list?

Dear Colleagues Looking for some advice. I'm trying to find out if anyone has expertise in conducting risk assessment work with students who may be displaying inappropirate sexual behaviour to other children.

We had some great input at ESF last week, as part of the Council for International Schools Child protection and safeguarding training, from Joe Sullivan who has 30 years of experience in the field. However Joe is based in Ireland so he is not immediately available! Any info appreciated!

Hi All thought I would share this article around the idea of a benefit Mindset. Ash Buchanan, the Author is coming to talk to ESF colleagues soon on how the ideas can be used with teachers and students to support wellbeing. Apart from the new ideas around benefit mindset i think that this article gives a good exposition on Mindsets per se.

On another note, thanks to all of you who came to ESF centre yesterday. A great event and amzing to see the breadth and depth of professionals involved in supporting young people and their families across Hong kong.

For those worried about the excess sandwiches... they were given to the young people who come for addtional evening native language classes at ESF. They are often tired and havent had time to eat so it was a treat for them. There were none left...

Mindfulness Matters Training program

Dear Colleagues

I am writing to inform you that ESF will once again be offering The Mindfulness Matters Training program in May this year.

Mindfulness Matters is an 8-10 week programme for children and young people aged 5-14. Developed by the Academy for Mindful teaching in the Netherlands. It has a developing presence across Europe, South America and Asia and has received significant of positive feedback from key figures in the international mindfulness community.

The course will be delivered over 6 days in May:

Friday 5th -Sunday 7th, 9-5
Friday 12th -Sunday 14th, 9-5

In addition to attending the course, participants will be also required to pilot the course with a group of children/young people, receive supervision and submit a short essay to receive certification. Participants must have completed the adult Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course themselves before the start of the course.

Costs for participants attending the course will be HK$16,000. We have limited places available. This cost includes one age group folder 5-8, 8-12, or 12-14, but does not include the price of one off supervision with one of the course tutors (cHK$800).

You can find out more about the mindfulness matters course at the AMT website, or by contacting me directly to discuss.

Registration for the course will also involve a questionnaire and interview for suitability, organised by the academy for mindful teaching. Links to this will be provided at a later date

Please contact me if you are interested in attending this course

kind regards

Tim CS
