Can anyone identify this? Looks like an ant crossed with a wasp and the blue tint of a dragon fly?

Dear friend,

I just emailed Congress to urge them to oppose the Internet Blacklist Legislation, known as the PROTECT-IP Act in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House. This legislation seeks to give the executive branch power to conduct slash-and-burn campaigns against websites that allegedly host – or even link to – content that infringes on intellectual property rights. That would “disappear” whole domain names, fundamentally undermining Internet security, and/or choke off their financial support. The Internet Blacklist Legislation puts more sites than ever at risk, effectively upending the DMCA safe harbors that have been crucial to the growth of Internet innovation and creativity.

Sadly, these short-sighted and dangerous bills won’t do much to stop online infringement – but they will jeopardize our ability to speak and read online with the kind of freedom we cherish in the offline world. Deep-pocketed Hollywood lobbyists are aggressively pushing to control and censor the open Internet, willing to sacrifice free speech and our Internet culture in hopes of controlling how people view their movies and products.

We need to stop this bill before it goes any further. Will you contact your representatives in Congress and urge them to oppose the Internet Blacklist Legislation? Visit: https://eff.org/r.C8A

pretty cool app!
Add yourself to the G+ Globe and have your Google+ activity show up as a spark of light from your location. The more profiles, the more accurately you can see activity from around the world. A very cool experiment.

Dear wanna-be occupy wall street protesters,

You're doing it wrong. The US Bank tower in Boise, is not a corporate headquarters, it is an office building rented out to other companies. You are only scaring bank tellers by banging on the windows with your signs. This is not how you do a peaceful protest with your masks and bandanna's covering your face.

That is why the cops were called and you all ran away.

For the real protesters who are still peacefully sitting, I may not agree with you completely but you have the right to protest. Continue on.

How to See Facebook Friends' Birthdays in Google Calendar
Just found out you can do this! Here are the steps:

1. In Facebook, go to https://www.facebook.com/events/birthdays/
2. Scroll to bottom & click "Export Birthdays"
3. Copy the URL that starts "webcal:" in the popup.
4. In your Google Calendar, click the down arrow after "Other Calendars"
5. Select "Add by URL" and paste in the URL you copied in step 3.
That's it!

I, Evan Parker, will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish Foundation for each time this post is shared (up to $100). Let's show how Google+ can be used for good!

As background, a friend of mine is part of a business school competition to raise money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Imagine 80 MBA students in a room all brainstorming about how to raise money for this worthy cause. Of course the idea of using social networks to spread the word came up, and the usual suspects were named: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, email, etc. But no one suggested Google+! Can you believe that?! My friend finally brought up Google+, but all they said was "oh yeah, we'll just copy what we post on Facebook into Google+." Well I have a better idea.

Let's show these MBA students how powerful Google+ can be in raising money and awareness for a good cause! For each time this post is shared (before 5pm EST Wed Aug 31st) I will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish Foundation via the following page:

http://friends.wish.org/022-000/page/Ross%20Impact-Challenge/Section--1.htm

And if you want to help out beyond just spreading the word then you should donate as well! The rules of the competition limit each donor to a max of $100, but even just a $10 donation would be awesome. All donations must be made before 5pm EST on Wed Aug 31st to count for the competition.

Let's show the power of Google+, let's help my friend's team win the competition, and let's do it all for a good cause!

Please share this post now by clicking the "Share" link below

Thanks!
Evan Parker

Update: I have to go to bed now, but if this thing reaches 200 shares before I get up tomorrow morning then I will donate another $100 to Make-A-Wish Foundation outside of the competition (since I can only donate $100 for the competition). Thanks to +Theofrenz Cayambas for the idea!
