Okay, here we go. We spent the holidays in Tanzania, so I will start dribbling out photos. We took around 2500, but won't subject the Internet to all of them...
Factoids:
- A hippo eats between 40 and 60 kg of grass when they go grazing at night
- Female lions do the hunting. A single lion can take down a giraffe, but it takes 4 - 6 to take down a Cape Buffalo.

Interesting. One of the actresses in the anti-Muslim film causing the riots speaks up -- it was filmed as an adventure story with totally different lines, then re-dubbed (without the knowledge of the cast) into what it is now. The WTF-ometer is pegging the red line.

That's sweet.
FOX-style 'news' can't be broadcast in Canada because it is illegal there to lie or mislead in a newscast.

A poster on the Steam boards noticed that in Endless Space you must research "Casimir Effect" to traverse wormholes.

You seldom get game reviews you like or agree with. You seldom get games reviews where you can tell the reviewer 'got it.' And yet, in the review from RPS, they not only 'get it' but they even commented on the writing. :-D

"The relationship between the food industry and the scientists conducting research into obesity is also complicated by the issue of funding. There is not a great deal of money set aside for this work and so the food industry has become a vital source of income. But this means that the very same science going into combating obesity could also be used to hone the products that are making us obese. Many of the scientists I spoke to are wary about going on the record because they fear their funding will be taken away if they speak out."
