+The New York Times today includes an illustrated feature introducing the Raspberry Pi.
Raspberry Pi, a tiny computer the size of a credit card, has captured the imaginations of students, educators and tinkerers around the world since it became available in 2012.

$22mil Budget boost for NSW Records digital push
The NSW government is pushing ahead with the full scale digitisation of the state's archives and records after the latest state Budget tipped in another $22 million to further regional online access to historical repositories.

a little misleading: 22 mil isn't a "boost", it is our total budget allocation for the year (and about half of that figure we generate ourselves as revenue from our records storage business).

The good news is that we are getting funding for the next four years for the Digital Archives - approx $4.8 million over those four years (so a bit over $1 mil each year). We were also successful in getting funding for a project to refresh our collection management system. No "full scale digitisation" funded at this stage!

So a good budget for us, but not a magical money tree

Very sad news
He was one of my comedy heroes.
I had the enormous privilege of working with Rik Mayall on Bottom for 1 episode in the early 1990's but we shared stages many times in 100's of venues on the 1980's comedy circuit.
My heart goes out to his family and close friends, I never knew him well but every encounter was a joy.

Just some random thoughts having read about Missions in the latest teardown. I wonder if missions will only be created by NIA or whether there might be scope for users to submit mission ideas?

For example, visiting/linking thematically related portals. These could be within the same city or widely distributed across an entire country. Some ideas (assuming all are portals):
- Link any 2 blue plaques commemorating William Shakespeare.
- Create a field between any 3 stations on the Paris Metro.
- Capture portals at 10 buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
- Hack all 29 national memorials administered by the US National Park Service.

Any thoughts?

It would be cool to be able to put some items in a capsule and insert them onto the portal network as a bounty for completing a mission you set.

Would a Greyhound terminal or similar meet the criteria for a candidate portal? In some small towns it might be the only "transit station".

I submitted an Amtrak terminal 46 days ago and I'm curious about it too.  Probably only 2 months left before I find out! :-/
