You don't have to book a room to enjoy the hotel. First, parking is free (be careful not to dent the fancy cars around). Get a (rather expensive) coffee and sit on the terrace for a while. Next, go North on the bay trail. It's much nicer and less crowded than the South trail which goes through the Golf. You can walk all the way to Poplar Beach and enjoy stunning views of the coast.

This review is primarily for the Conservatory Bar and Lounge as well as the general outdoor bar. I try to stop here every time I am driving up the coast as the Ritz has some of the best views, excellent cocktails and bar snack around. On a sunny day with views of the ocean, the 18th hole of the golf course along the cliff edge and myriad of people wandering around its tough to beat. Valet is $10 if you pay on your bill and can get backed up on a nice day. Drinks aren't cheap either but they are what you would expect. They do have some excellent drinks, try the High Tide, and their food inside is quite good. Sitting outside is the pace to be however and even in the cold they have large fire pits to sit around. Most weekends in the summer you can see them setting up for a wedding. I highly recommend stopping here if you get the chance.

I found it....the twin of Hotel du cap Eden Roc / Antibes - France. The Ritz Carlton has the same combination of unique location surrounded by stunning landscape. Questions about the quality, the staff, the service, the menus and so on are superfluous: Everything is excellent - The only mistake is that time is sometimes much to short :-)

Went to Yappy Hour (last Thursday of the month). Cute doggies everywhere! You can get drinks and snacks there, and some proceeds go to The Humane Society. Great place to go to socialize your dog, meet other dog owners, or meet adoption dogs who are seeking a home. Beautiful venue by the beach, golfing, music, very friendly people. Also, they had probably the best, richest hot cocoa I've ever tasted.

This review is mainly for the Ritz-Carlton's Christmas buffet. I've been coming to the Ritz for their Christmas buffet now off and on for a few years. Every time is always enjoyable and a luxurious treat to be had. However, as of 2014 I feel that they've been making some adjustments that aren't the greatest. While I do believe the food selection and quality of the buffet has become better. The service and experience in the dinning area has greatly declined. It's as if they started spending more money on their chefs and less on their ambiance, which in itself is not all terrible. But for the price of the buffet, you'd hope the complete experience would be top notch. It seemed like there was limited staff and it was hard to get plates cleared, glasses filled, and tough to get a hold of anyone. The dining room felt kind of over crowded and industrial. And overall the dining experience was a bit downgraded. But onto the food, which was outstanding as always and truly beautiful. The flavors were diverse and very good. It was amazing that so many little plates of things and options were all over the place. And the dessert table was awe inspiring with tons of sweets to try in all shapes and sizes. I just hope next year they're able to provide a more well rounded dining experience.

One of my favorite places in the whole world. It's incredibly scenic and it's so romantic. Reminds me of Wuthering Heights! The views are incredible - you can walk along the beach, you can walk near the golf course, etc. I would also say that they food here is incredible as well (though pricey). I love the smores you can make outside at the fireplaces. If you want to surprise your significant other, I would highly recommend this spot! I haven't tried the golf spot here, but I also here that it's great and highly recommended.

I was a bit disappointed by the room. Other than the bathroom, which is nicely appointed in white marble, the rest of the room is nothing more than you would experience in any Hampton Inn you have ever stayed at. I guess I just expected a bit more for over $600 per night, but then again, it is the California coast. Maybe that is normal given the cost of the property here. I was equally unimpressed by their fine dining experience, Navio. To me it seemed that the chef was trying too hard to come up with dishes that were unique and exotic. Unfortunately this seemed to come at the expense of actually being tasty, and believe me, I am an adventurous foodie. The rest of the hotel I would give an A+. It reminded me of some of the hotels I have visited throughout Europe where you have loads of old-world charm layered with exquisite service. Add to that the breathtaking views of the coast and immaculately manicured golf course and the scene is pretty hard to beat.

Amazing! This resort itself is just beautiful and so elegantly appointed from the rooms to common areas. We enjoyed the wonderful views and the staff are so helpful. High Recommended!
