GB women's rowing in 1986 saw 2 medals at the Worlds, 4 at the Commonwealth Games, and the retirement of several key athletes including Beryl Crockford.

As well as a five-boat women's rowing team at the LA Olympics in 1984, GB also had crews at the first FISA Lightweight Championships to include women's races.
