Romantic, intimate French bistro where a tree growing through the dining room adds to the ambiance.- Google
"Three is a tree growing up the middle that is rather cool."
"Nice place, but a change in some menu items is needed after all these years."

went to cafe dega last night and everything was great, the bartender took care of us right away when we were waiting for our table to be open and made the best mint julip for me. we had the cheese board to start and it was a great selection, the french onion was a bit too cheesy but it was still really good. i had the sea bass stuffed with crab and the taste was spot on with a hint of lemon with herbs. my girlfriend had the lamb t bone and it was excellent, perfectly cooked. definetely going back, great service as well

What a terrible experience. We walk in, and for a minute and a half the staff there, standing right in front of us does not even acknowledge us. We had a reservation, but it kept getting worse from there. Then the waitress keeps avoiding our table to go to the tables surrounding ours, stopping and looking at us directly and then walking away. Then my wife orders steak medium well and I order mine rare. Hers is rare when it comes, mine was so raw that the serrated knife could not cut through the fat. This whole time, we're not complaining or making our dissatisfaction known. Then we ask for the check and it took over 20 minutes to get it. I rarely write reviews but this was one of the most uncomfortable meals (not to mention the food) that I have ever had.

Scale of 1 to 10 Frog Legs = 3 Cfish Ravioli = 7 Lamb = 7 Steak = 7 Brule = 7 Bill = $135 (two teas) Decor = 8 We ate on patio and there was a neighborhood band playing across street which made it fun/nice. Service = 7 Average Nice place and friendly people. Nothing spectacular but no big complaints! I would recommend it to others. A lot of our neighbors got the cheeses appetizer. Maybe do that in lieu of our choices.

The only knowledgeable and friendly patron in the "restaurant" were the caterpillars falling FROM THE CEILING ONTO OUR TABLE. They were way more attentive than any of the staff and deserved a better tip than the "server" we had. Very unfortunate. With proper pest control practices and a smile on at least one person's face would make this place enjoyable. The beets were way too earthy, too. But that might just be overkill.

Not great but not terrible. Three is a tree growing up the middle that is rather cool. The food we had wasn't impressive but edible. Might be a while before we go back.

I’ve heard great things about Café Degas, so that may have made my disappointment in the service and professionalism of the staff that much greater. Let me also state that I was once a waitress and I normally don’t complain when small things go wrong, but this was a start to finish fiasco of a meal. It started when they crammed six of us into two tables put together, we arrived at 530 the place was empty, and later six tops were given larger tables, my poor friend was sitting in the aisle and was kicked and bumped the whole time. Then the waiter sat down at the table next to us and spent ten minutes writing the desert menu on a white board before taking our drink order. When he finally delivered our wine he preceded to spill it all over me, with no apology I might add, he wrongly assumed that because I was wearing a purple shirt it wouldn’t stain, no club soda offer either. He then proceeded to show us a red leather jacket that he found in the trash, as he handles our food it was not very appetizing. We finally placed our order for our food and when it came out five dishes arrived and he said mine “would be just a minute,” so my friends waited, but after five minutes I made them eat so their food wouldn’t be cold. One of the chicken dishes also appeared undercooked and dripping blood. After ten minutes we asked the manager and he said there had been a mix up in the kitchen, “didn’t your waiter tell you,” no he didn’t, the waiter then tried to offer me soup, but I can’t eat seafood and it was lobster bisque. My friends finished their meal and even shared their leftovers with me, then I received mine about twenty-five minutes after they had theirs. There were no apologies from the waiter or manager! The fact one person watched 5 eat their entire meal, and then 5 watched one eat her meal with no apology or smoothing over was as bad of service as I’ve seen in a long time. The waiter came over and tried to explain once my food had arrived that they cooked the wrong dish, but did they try to offer me that dish instead no. I think he just lied and didn’t put my order in at all. So we finally get our bill and not only did they charge me for my meal the waiter rang up erroneous items and overcharged us by $25, thankfully one of my friends has the eagle eye and called him out on it, but it still took three attempts to provide us with the correct bill. The consensus at the table was that the waiter may have been drunk, high or really hung over, he smelled bad and he spent more time dabbling with the desert menu board, than waiting tables, continually going to it and adding dots and such, very strange. Despite the waiter’s unprofessional behavior and bad service the management should have stepped up and acted. I will not be eating here and again and caution others against eating at this establishment.
