My newest bodkin. The sideways bun only requires one to hold, and I thought this one was precious.

My.... Precious.......

I am to the point in this day where my vocabulary has fallen off a cliff. I have gone from Mom to well read parent to erudite individual to pissed off drill sergeant in the course of the last four hours.

The thing that tipped the scales was my tatting. I had released a design to a Round Robin group which I was proud of, but I had creative differences with the group surrounding an added row that dropped on the worst day of the year. I requested the design be abandoned so I could work in it, but I found out today that some people don't care about a designer's wishes.

I am not usually this proprietary over my stuff, but the second person refused to put more effort into their addition, and the third made it look even worse. I had to politely ask them to stop stealing and ruining my unfinished work. (I didn't use those words.)

Literally, it looks like a brown eye. A stinky, coffee filled, brown eye.

Well, I solved the headache issue: My glasses are overdue. It doesn't usually bother me because I'm working at home, but when I go out into the world and have to focus on many distances shifting, then it bothers me. Now I have to find a way to get to the optometrist as my toddler is unlikely to sit by and let me deal with that appointment like she sorta did at my physical.

The dream of the Can-Cello lives on! I used a speaker and some youtube videos of cello music to test the resonance of the Chock Full O'Nuts can. It seems to best resonate at an A, but it handled the lower registers quite well.

I need to sort out the end-pin issue, but I'm a few supplies away from creating the Canjo version of the cello, a DIY cello. I am debating which direction the can needs to face, though.

Some ladies pick out what earrings to wear. This is just about every pair of earrings I own, not including a pair at my desk and the Ravenclaw earrings I bought for my birthday. I love my fashion bodkins! #hairsticks

We are up to four days and my Hana Hana Mi #tomogatchi is doing well. I made sure to fill up all its meters before bed and it woke up in fine condition and smiling!

Now to keep it alive while I study math, like its 1998 again.

I am beyond done with this school district. Listening to the School Board meeting where they were planning to vote away the magnet program that serves my son and MANY children of need. The elected officials for the cut were the most condescending, insulting jerkweeds that I have heard in a LONG time, and I am an adorable adult woman. I have been talked down to in my life. This was inappropriate.

Somehow, we have to move in a year or so, so my children have a fighting chance.

Guess what! I still remember how to read bass clef music, how to hold a bow, AND how to do vibrato. I guess all that practice in middle school paid off. Now all I need is a cello. (I do regret selling mine, I admit it.) I am going to take it back up along with everything else, because for me, it was the best thing (probably the only GOOD thing) about middle school and the end of elementary school. It is a way to get out of my own head and lose myself in the music and the gaining of a skill.

I want to eventually be able to play Bach's 6 Cello Suites. These are the pieces that showcased the instrument and showed that it could be more than just back-up for the Violin. Also, the cello, besides being a sexy instrument, it has been said to be the closest instrument to the human vocal range (at least if you are singing Baroque music, I guess).

Weighed myself this morning, I have lost the two pounds I gained last weekend, and this time I actually worked for it. It was nice to see progress. The whole family is making changes, starting with small dietary ones like cutting back on carbs. I am trying on top of that to be more active (hubby and I have started playing Dance Dance Revolution three times a week). Top it all off with drinking plain water, instead of nothing or coffee and tea through the day.

I have been careful that these aren't a mass of sudden changes, but gradually introducing them to ensure they stick. The last time I did actual work for weight loss, I lost 30 lbs even with hormonal birth control. This time, I will do it with full blown asthma, because I want to be a hot scientist.
