I took serious issue yesterday with an article posted by +al.com  and relayed by +WHNT NEWS 19 Huntsville, AL  about a purported Snapchat image causing controversy on campus in Tuscaloosa.

My problem is that the response of the university and AL.com's role as their mouthpiece is severely violating basic concepts of online privacy and the context of private communications. I wrote an article here detailing exactly why this is so disturbing, and may present this as a lightning talk at this weekend's Barcamp Huntsville.

This article and the rhetoric it employs is so stupid and dangerous to a burgeoning film industry in Alabama. Georgia is kicking our tail when it comes to investing in a profitable industry, you'd think we'd want to compete and have our own Walking Dead here in Alabama.

Instead, thought leaders like this at AL.com are fanning the flames of mistrust and cynicism. This is why we can't have nice things.

After a few years away, Rocktt is back. We talked with Falco Girgis of Elysian Shadows, and also reviewed the Destiny Beta at the end of the episode. Look for much more in the coming months!

Location based brands and businesses, it's probably a good idea to look into this fairly soon. Foursquare is splitting into two, with one app being targeted to social and another for business.

They've suffered a decline in popularity in the recent year or two, but I think this is a great call on their end. I'm a fan and look forward to how they can get local-specific marketing back on track.

Next Saturday as a part of ChargerCon and Extra Life, I'll be playing games for nearly 24 hours straight to help raise funds for the Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. (It's like those old St. Jude marathons, but with video games instead of running.)

Please consider making a small tax-deductible donation on my page, my goal is $100 and the goal of all participants in ChargerCon is $1,000. Every little bit helps!
