I am a writer. Not the best, hopefully not the worst, but I need to write like roses need the rain. I'm also a baker - and proud owner of The Kitchen - a lovely little cake shop in Croxley Green.

Would love you to share this and let's see if we can encourage everyone to buy from local businesses this Christmas. Black Friday? Cyber Monday? or #L4GBuyLocal

Ir's fabulous to see this initiative from Reason. Here at The Kitchen we've been following the outcry over coffee cups with interest and I'm delighted to say that we've now followed suit with biodegradable and fully compostable cups ourselves.

We're also looking at other ways of making sure we're being as environmentally aware as possible and would love to talk more to you about this. For example we're looking at where to source our soya milk as we're aware of the impact soya production is having on South America with deforestation.

There's also been an outcry over avocados recently and we're trying to trace fairly traded ones so any advice gratefully received. Will pop in and see you soon!

Read more about what we're doing in this area at the Kitchen Croxley here : http://www.thekitchencroxley.co.uk/2016/10/02/wake-up-and-smell-the-coffee/

Tomorrow morning - Wednesday May 25 - at 11am we are hosting a meeting with the Watford Observer senior journalist Charlotte Ikonen.
This is in response to reports from many local parents of unsavoury issues in the Barton Way Rec. From human excrement on the slide (ugh - sorry to even mention it) to discarded used condoms and bags of dog poo left for toddlers to discover. How awful is this in our lovely village?
If you can possibly make it tomorrow at 11am please do come to The Kitchen. 198 Watford Road. WD3 3DB. If it's not an issue for you at the moment it might be one day so this is a chance to speak up and let's stop this horrid antisocial and inappropriate behaviour.
If you know a local PCSO, a Councillor, an MP, a Church Leader or anyone else who may wish to contribute to the conversation please can you ask them to come to the meeting too? Thank you!
Best wishes
Linda
