+Amazon.com accounts are a security risk. New attack is proving their security policies in support are insufficient.

+AT&T  : The way you know people don't give a shit.

So I am a +DIRECTV customer.  I was squeamish when I learned that AT&T bought Directv because lets face it, AT&T has a reputation.  They also have gigabit internet service in my neighborhood.  I talked to the wife about it and decided to see what AT&T could do price wise and if it wasn't a big increase we would switch from Bright House Networks.  If only I knew that AT&T employees rival government bureaucrats on their lazy incompetence.

Missed sales opportunity #1:  The DirectV website had a graphic which said combine my satellite and AT&T U-verse service to save.  Call for details and provided a number.  I called the lady asking about their GigiPower (their gigibit fiber brand name) service.  After checking to verify that GigiPower is available in my area, she then said the fastest internet in my area was 45Mbps and started reciting the pricing details.  After a moment I decided to interrupt her to inform her that I called about gigibit service and would like a quote for that service.  She then told me that I would have to go online or into a store to inquire about that service.

Missed sales opportunity #2:  I looked on AT&T's website.  Do I need to go on?  That website makes as much sense as a polar bear sky diving.

Missed sales opportunity #3:  I needed a haircut and an AT&T store just so happened to be located next door.  I walked in and explained what I was intending to do and they printed out a sheet that quoted me $139/month plus $7/month for equipment (why $7 a month for a $50 media converter I don't understand but that's another conversation) and a $99 setup fee.  The sales person then said there isn't any discounts or promotions for combining my bill.

Missed sales opportunity #4:  I knew that the store I had just gone to had to be wrong because that conflicted with all the garbage the mailman puts in my box from AT&T and the idiot solicitor tried to tell me as I called the cops on him.  So I go to another store.  This store tells me that I get $10 off $110/month no equipment, no setup fees.  So really $100/month.  I can go for that.  I sign up.  An hour after I get home the sales person calls me back and tells me she was wrong and that because I am not on their wireless service I am not eligible for the $10 off deal.  When I challenge her on the point of combining the bills then she says the best reason to do so would be so I just get one bill.  At this point I am like, fuck AT&T, let make them spend more on postage.  Send me two bills.  You wont save me money why should I help your bottom line?

I then call the AT&T, after talking to 3 different people including one from the "GigiPower Customer relations team" i end up getting transferred to billing where the automated system tells me my call cannot be completed and hangs up on me.

Point is, AT&T's reputation is well earned.  I know they aren't sweating the loss of 1 captive lead.  I'm sure they could lose 100k more like me and not even notice.  I gave them every possible opportunity to close on a sale and they squandered it under the weight of a bloated inferior staff.

Looks like Indianapolis, Milwaukee, and to a lesser extent New York data centers are going to see an increase in demand for floor space. The stupidity of Chicago politicians is amazing.
