Hi  This was not incorrect wiring, but a manufacture fault.

The solder joint on the board underneath the screw terminal was dry.

I simply resoldered the joint and the printer has been working perfectly since.

There are a couple of other small issues - I had one where the PTFE shielding on the thermistor wires was slightly too short and the temperature was sensed incorrectly (extruding at 235 degrees instead of 185).  A piece of kapton tape sorted that one.

Overall this is a pretty good printer, once calibrated correctly.  The accuracy that can be obtained is excellent (X, Y axis < 20 microns).
