A better technological solution to this might be very bright infrared LEDs lighting up areas around the performer to where he can't be seen because the phone camera can't compensate for exposure. It would work for a while unless people decided it was worth installing an IR filter over their lenses.

I'm not sure if the equivalent can be done for audio... can, say, a loud 30 kHz sound cause the phone microphone to clip and get no normal sound recorded, while being inaudible to the audience?
