Very cool.
What do you see in these pictures? Wednesday is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Take a look at these pictures, share them with your friends and ask them what they see - is there more than meets the eye?

Giving material goods is one form of generosity, but one can extend an attitude of generosity into all one's behavior. Being kind, attentive, and honest in dealing with others, offering praise where it is due, giving comfort and advice where they are needed, and simply sharing one's time with someone - all these are forms of generosity, and they do not require any particular level of material wealth.

In today’s materialistic world there is a risk of people becoming slaves to money, as though they were simply cogs in a huge money-making machine. This does nothing for human dignity, freedom, and genuine well-being. Wealth should serve humanity, and not the other way around.

Awesome photo of New York state senator Eric Adams at work yesterday wearing a hoodie for Trayvon Martin:

So sad a precious young man has been tragically shot and killed, but I ask, who or what, originally made this a race issue before all the facts are in? Are we assuming the shooter was racially profiling the young black man? I suspect the emotional and heartfelt non-violent protests have caught the media's attention, thankfully, and brought about DOJ & FBI involvement, which will hopefully contribute to an accepted and objectively based judgement of the facts. With that in mind, I am so thankful for the right to peacefully assemble and draw attention to this tragic loss of life, and at the same time, so very sad that the conditions of our society made this a racial issue from the very start. Both the racists and victims of racism seem to react automatically to such events, defensiveness for one and anger/sorrow for the other. I pray that this was not racial profiling, but either way, a beautiful life was cut short and his family, friends and community deserve our collective empathy and support. Peace.

Nice explanation of mind-clutter ("mine-clutter") creating a "gap" in awareness.
#Zen #buddhistcircle #buddhist by one of my favorite Zen teachers/writers

When attention to the present moment falters and we drift into some version of 'I have to have it my way,' a gap is created in our awareness of reality as it is, right now. Into that gap pours all the mischief of our life. We create gap after gap after gap, all day long. The point of practice is to close those gaps, to reduce the amount of time that we spend being absent, caught in our self-centered dream. - Charlotte Joko Beck, "Attention Means Attention"
