Weekly Writing Competition: March 31-April 7

And here is this week's writing exercise/competition! Members pick the winner. Open to all. And you are the judge!

We asked the community how we could better the voting opportunity for all the submissions, so this week we're going to experiment.  I'm closing the comments on this post until Thursday at 4pm.

Please submit your stories on Thursday between 4pm and midnight CST.  The idea is that everyone should be done by then and we can close submissions to open for voting.  Several of you within the community felt this would help alleviate the voting issue with the first one or two stories getting the most votes every week.

Voting will begin Thursday at midnight CST

Please read the following rules before you post. Submissions/comments that don't follow the rules will be removed, no matter how awesome. Sorry.

1) All submissions must be added as a COMMENT to this post, not as new posts in this section (or anywhere else).

2) All submissions must be less than 600 words.

3) Only include the title and text of your submission in your comment. Please don't add any questions, links, commentary, requests for feedback, etc. Stories/poems only!

4) Your submission must in some way relate to the photo below, but it is entirely up to you how to do that. It can be a reference. It can be an image from a dream. It can be part of the narrative. Whatever you choose.

5) ANYONE CAN VOTE. Not only that, anyone can +1 as many entries as they like! You don't have to pick just one.

6) The voting will be counted and a winner chosen next week Sunday at 4pm Central Standard Time. (But feel free to keep plussing anyway!)

7) Winners are chosen by +1 count. Just that simple. (Ties will be broken by sudden death cage match.)

8) However, I ask that you only +1 your own submission if you also +1 at least one other submission. 'Cuz you're awesome like that!

What you win:
-Admiration and envy from your fellow writers
-A chance to practice, practice, practice
-Your submission re-posted at the conclusion of the contest and added to Featured Posts.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly.
