Bassett's is the "BEST" ice cream you'll ever eat. Flavor, smooth but not "over the top" creamy consistency and always true to the "Philadelphia ice cream recipe" helps make it the best. Unlike the "french recipe" of over the top use of cream, Bassett's uses milk and doesn't have that heavy cream consistency. Just a perfect delicious experience. Made in Philly region and uses their recipe [milk] and every flavor is great. From vanilla to chocolate and the rainbow of flavors in between. Forget Ben & Jerry and Hagn Das[sic] which are too heavy with cream and are pre-occupied putting chocolate in most of their selection. (Cherry Garcia would be better without the chocolate{although it's good hard dark chocolate). Breyer's was similar before Kraft bought it and altered it's excellent taste and consistency. Remember, those flecks of vanilla beans and pieces of Strawberry? Well Kraft denies altering recipe but it's not as good as it was. "Since 18?? and still primo. Try a dab in your coffee or ice cream soda. I've used a dab of vanilla, butterscotch, coffee and others and always superb. Bassett's reins as the best. Bassett's should be more widely available in more outlets around country but this five star product is fairly priced and worth blowing out a pint in a sitting with no remorse. Ps. I'm told that Bassett's will make a custom flavor. PPs. God bless America & Bassett's.

Terrific flavors and served at the perfect temperature. I had the Guatemalan Ripple on a sugar cone and my cuz had Peanut Butter Swirl. Both were top notch. I also learned that Bassett is the first company to sell ice cream in the USA. Don't leave Reading Terminal Market without a double scoop.

I arrived at Reading Terminal with a stomach ache and left with two scoops of ice cream. If anything, this is a testament to Bassett's hold on my heart. I have early memories of sitting at the counter with a cone of peanut butter swirl in hand, utterly content. The eggnog was creamy, smooth and delicious, and I ate it happily despite the cold weather and a long walk. I will always buy an ice cream cone from Bassett's when I'm in the vicinity. No matter how intense the wind chill is or how far I have to walk. -Kiley Bense Green tea ice cream, one of the most popular ice cream flavors in Asia, can not be too sweet... which sort of goes against the American concept of ice cream. I was therefore skeptical about trying the green tea ice cream at Bassett's, an all-American ice cream maker dating back to 1861. I realized my skepticism had been for naught after first lick. The perfectly creamy ice cream had the unmistakable taste of green tea with, lo and behold, just a hint of sweetness! The ideal pick-me-up when you want something decadent, without the typical sugar rush. -Elliott Brooks

I love Philadelphia. And there is nothing more Philadelphian than Bassett's Ice Cream in the Reading Terminal Market. Try the pralines and cream... Sooooooo Good! Just save a pint for me!

This is hands down my favorite place to get ice cream in Philly. The butterscotch vanilla and macadamia nut are to die for and I like the bar-style seating. You might have to wait in line for a few minutes but it is definitely worth it.

I love the chocolate marshmallow and the peach ice cream (it has chunks of peaches in it). It's a favorite stop on my BESegal Ice Cream Tour of Philly. I believe Bassett's is made by Pott's Ice Cream according to e Bassett's family recipes. So be on the look out for shops that sell Pott's Ice Cream b/c it's great too.

In funny reading terminal market, easily to find here nearby entrance beneath the tunnel. I got a greentea two-scoops corn. It was huge enough. Interesting thing is, Obama was there before! Should try once more to get mint chocolate chips one which is Obama's favorite ;)
