Jan. 1,2016 I am a true "Angelino" Latino male who considered himself not only a superb culinary creator but one with an outstanding culinary appetite as well , and at 50 ( young looking 35) still maintaining a 30" waist.. Thank you !! I cannot write enough about this gem and the beautiful delights it has to offer ! Every Latino has there die hard favorite place , yeah yeah, but how many are willing to travel 30-40 miles weekly or bi- weekly to get there? I have lived in west Hollywood , old town Pasadena, Beverly Hills , ect , this non homogenized Latino knows his roots and still make the mile long drive to "La Mascota"! True story ; while visiting family in the very scary "white" Orange County ( shivering even to write of it), I made the 50-60 mile drive just to satisfy our Latino palettes for the delicious & always fresh "pan dulce"! Cry I may when the doors close for good if ever because made here are the not so easy, rare delicacies I remember as a child when dad would bring home that large white bag with spots of delicious mouth watering drops of heavenly greese peaking through . No one makes them any longer for that was of another era ( 1960's) and no one makes little boys like myself for that matter as well , but God himself left a touch of his sprit in that batch of flour and sugar .. and though dad is gone I am the one to still carry that tradition of "Gabe, uncle Gabe, mijo , cousin Gabe can you get a dozen "Libros"! Yes libros and the way they were made as I recall back in 1967 are still made here so beautiful and so delicate . An oblong lightly sugar coated topping in what I can only describe as layers upon layers of philo dough with a very light brushing of strawberry in the middle , my God my hands tremble as I near the glass that proudly displays these beauties . Only 10 min on the highway of my chick BMW , the rememnits are a dead give away as my lap, car seat , counsel steering wheel are covered in flakes of sugar and philo dough ..And with a smile on my face , I could give a damn .. In all honesty this place touches my heart , for what other American institution can refer to its patrons as they enter the doors with "Hi mijo" I am more than proud to be a Latino , and more than willing to write a review in any given day gladly about the wonderful sweet place that brings me home every single time ... "La Mascota".. You have this boys heart ..God bless you and allow to serve us for many more years to come.... gabriel..

These tamales are probably the best out from East L.A. too Boyle Heights. But not as good as my grandmother's tamales. Hahaha! But seriously, La Mascota bakery is one of the best places to get tamales locally. But , be ready to wait in line, trust me the ws it is worth it!

OH EM GEE! It's like I died and went to heaven and then came back and brought a little piece of heaven down with me in the form of a cookie. And it's not JUST a cookie, it's a way of life. And it is actually pretty darn tooting' good! The cookies are $4 which some may think that's expensive but it is well worth it! The are huge and very delicious!I went all the way from CA to NYC for this well j/k, that was the only reason I went. But anyways just trust me and try this place! 4 and a half stars and over 2600 reviews! Come on now! This is a must try spot and I wish we had one on the west coast.

This cute little bakery located in the upper west side was incredible. We stopped in after a recommendation of a few friends. We cannot thank them enough; La Mascota Bakery takes the cookie to the next level. No extravagant recipes, simple ideas with taste beyond anything I've ever had in a cookie. Cookies the size of my fist, I could just eat here forever and be happy. If you are in the CA area, make your way here, you will not regret. Cheers

The masa in the tamales at La Mascots is by far the most tender that I have ever encountered. That tender masa surrounds a variety of fillings, pork, beef, chicken, and cheese, each one more flavorful than the next. What makes their tamales unique can also be to their detriment. That tender masa is nice, however, personally, I'd like a little more body. It falls apart a bit too easily, making picking it up with a fork a chore. With that said, would I go again for another dozen, certainly.
