This Ted Talk by Monica Lewinsky addresses the epidemic of cyber bullying and how public shaming can ruin a life. I applaud her bravery and am rallied by her message to share as much online compassion as I can. Take the time to watch, it is such an important conversation! http://ow.ly/QTusY

Ever feel that you are less "with it" than before you had kids? Mom-Brain is real and may affect your future health if you do hormone therapy during and after menopause.

"...previous motherhood alters cognition and neuroplasticity in response to hormone therapy, demonstrating that motherhood permanently alters the brain"

"How come I've never learned any of this from my pediatrician?" asked a mom at my presentation last week to a group of Preschool parents on natural treatments for Fever, Flus and Colds.

If you want me to come speak to your PTA or parent's group, I love educating moms and dads for free about how to better care for their kids (and themselves) at home, drug-free. Please contact me to learn more!

"Dr. Steiner-Adair attributes a recent 20 percent increase in accidental injuries seen in pediatric emergency rooms to caretakers’ failure to pay full attention to those they are supposed to be watching, like infants and toddlers in the bathtub or children on the jungle gym. “Your reaction time and attention is not the same when you’re texting or talking on a cellphone,” she said."

I, too am guilty of being on my smartphone when I should be paying closer attention. The other day, my two daughters were painting with poster paints outside on the (baby-proofed) lanai while I caught up on some work email. It wasn't until she had painted on the floor, the coffee table, the couch and then my leg that I finally noticed that my youngest had come inside and was using more than just paper as her canvas.

While we can't always put our devices away when around our children, this article is a good reminder to be more mindful of how our kids see us using technology and to not let it distract us from the real task of living.
