Local group wants U.S. Chamber to include voices of LGBT business owners and citizens in vetting process for endorsements.
Gay business group in Charlotte says it is "outraged" over the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's endorsement of North Carolina Republican House Speaker Thom Tillis.

Sad news :(
Charlotte's LGBTQ Law Center, a landmark legal program assisting low-income and under-served LGBT populations, has been shuttered, following the Internal Revenue Service’s revocation of its parent organization’s tax-exempt status. Leaders of the Freedom Center for Social Justice say the closure was prompted by funding shortfalls and they are in the process now of seeking reinstatement from the IRS.

Virginia’s marriage ruling pressures North Carolina; Challenge to similar ban in North Carolina will be heard soon in Greensboro.
Advocates in North Carolina say a ruling yesterday overturning Virginia’s anti-LGBT marriage ban will put added pressure on this state’s attorney general as a pending case in Greensboro nears.

Blake Brockington, a 17-year-old transgender senior at East Mecklenburg High School, has been nominated by his peers to run for homecoming king. The winner — whoever raises the most money for an international charity — will be crowned this Friday at East Meck’s homecoming basketball game.
