Poems  -

(Makayla, this is our poem from Mrs. Baker's!)

I sliently dash through the dark.
Trying to elude those who follow me.
The wind howls, trees sway, my pursuer has made his mark.
Jumping, climbing, attempting to flee.

I look from left to right,
Red eyes are all about.
Creatures roaming through the night.
I try to find a different route.

No clear path is to be seen.
I hear a subtle sound.
Was this the plot of the Evil Queen?
My head turns around.

I am seized, and thrown to the damp lawn.
My eyes close, never to see the light of dawn.

(Ahh pantoums, love them)

Animals, Abused

Poor animals, suffering.
Beaten, abused, abandoned.
Unloved, dying.
On the streets, alone

Beaten, abused, abandoned.
No food, no water.
On the streets, alone.
Left secluded in shelters.

No food, no water.
Take care of them.
Left secluded in shelters.
You can help.

Take care of them.
Unloved, dying.
You can help.
Poor animals, suffering.

(5th grade, once again)

Fast

Speedy and quick,
You can't catch me.
I'll race right past you because I'm that slick.
Vroom zoom zoom!
Like a torpedo that can't be stopped,
You'll eat my dust because I'm always rushed, and can't be stopped.

Poems  -

(Lolly and Varnack-- they go together. It was an activity in 5th grade for LA)

Lolly

     Lolly is pale blue
Sweet like grapefruit, but harsh as ammonia.
In July, she is a dolphin of velvet, playing her flute in the Atlantic Ocean Orchestra.
A deadly spider at points, when she is taken for granted.
Lolly, sweet, gentle, but also made of strength and courage.

Varnack

Varnack is a ferocious shark, yet such a ladybug.
Flying ten thousand feet high in the sky, or 100,000 feet below the surface of the mighty ocean.
In winter, he is dark red, rough as sandpaper.
Playing his trumpet, how lonely he is.
    Varnack, mighty, strong, misunderstood.

This is where I need to draw the line...
This is the point where I need to walk away,
Without looking back...

I know I tell myself these crazy things,
But in the end we all know,
Where I will go...

At this moment,
It's hard to explain...
It's hard to cope,
With what has happened...
I still don't believe,
It comes down to this...

In all my days,
I could've never guessed...
That someone I cared for,
Would hurt me like this...

Poems  -

The Tears I Shed

The tears I shed, they slide down my cheek,

They show I have strength, not that I'm weak.

When I cry, I cry in anger,
Or when I'm in danger.

The tears I shed are not mournful,
They are only scornful.

When I feel threatened, I weep,
To show that what is mine, I keep.

The tears I shed,
Tell me I'm very much alive, by the time I go to bed.

(Also from 5th grade)

Pencils, a wonder.

The pink eraser dulls as it ages.
Long and skinny, stretching down.

Writing in notebooks, sharp and yellow.
Dixon.

Wooden and straight, with a hidden layer inside.
At school, waiting for you.

Pencils, a wonder.

The Shadow

Out from the distance,
A figure I see.
Only a silouette,
But, yes, a dangerous threat.

What could it be?
I say as it approaches.
Coming closer,
A frightening disposer

I take a step back,
For fear of peril.
The stranger's hands now rise.
No one is around to hear my troubled cries.

Around my throat,
Those black shadows go.
One last plea,
For someone to save me.

This was seriously the best hotel I've been to! The service was amazing. We booked very short notice, but it was no problem. Tha game room and gym are awesome. The pool goes from 3 ft to 10 1/2 feet deep!! There's a fountain u can sit under at the pool, and the beach is right there. Truly awesome hotel!

Im currently an 8th grader going here. I love this school! Great classes, fun teachers, and we always work really hard, but get great rewards in the end. :)
