Amazing coffee, best Ethiopian food, great prices. Not to mention how convenient it is that the #5 bus stops right outside! They offer deli food as well - my favorite is their handmade veggie burger, because it's the only one I've ever tasted that manages to be flavorful and well-textured!

This adorable, unassuming cafe not only provides great coffees but a stellar sampling of Ethiopian food! The vegetarian combo and chicken tibs were both so flavorful and the pour of honey wine, generous. Great for a casual date or simple dinner spot.

I feel like a fool. I've lived a block away from here for years but hadn't stopped by until recently. It's empty/quiet (apart from the constant 80s music) and offers tea, coffee, wine, and food -- basically the perfect place to read a book when it's cold outside and your apartment building is noisy due to it being old and poorly-insulated and your landlord having no financial incentive to renovate it. Addendum: Oasis shut down for a few months for renovations and reopened with a full kitchen (serving an Ethiopian/Eritrean menu) and a large selection of coffee in January 2014. I went here for dinner with a bunch of friends (some vegetarian, others not) last night (Feb 8). I think that everyone in the group was very happy with their order -- the spicy tibs was excellent. Note that Oasis is still more of a cafe than a restaurant: you place your order and pay at the front, and while the dishes were brought to the tables that we'd pulled together, there's no waitstaff. They offer take-out as well.

Robust selection of freshly ground beans, including organic choices. (Love the Marcala) The Ethiopian/Eritrean cusine comes in generous portions for reasonable prices. Like how they have a frequent buyer program in place. Free wifi a bonus as well.

Great neighborhood feel to it. Large portion sizes at good prices. The beef and chicken tibs are both really good, and they have a large selection of ethiopian coffees as well. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend I were visiting San Francisco and the Oasis Cafe was in the area of the place we were staying at. Based on the reviews we decided to check it out. The food tasted good but we both ended up with food poisoning (chicken tibs) ... Not worth the risk.
