You ask: What is the best reason for firing someone? My response is the only reason is blatant dishonesty: Lying, stealing, misrepresenting for personal benefit, kickbacks, divulging trade secrets. The best hiring practices cannot determine when a person may give in to the temptation of dishonesty however, good hiring practices: Behavior evaluations, skills testing, interviews, references and "the gut" can minimize bad hires and thereby limit the reason for firing someone to dishonesty. With good hiring practices, all the other reasons for firing you listed can be corrected by interventions by company leaders.
