Shanghai’s subway operator was quick to post an Internet apology Tuesday after a subway accident that left about 250 people injured. Then it was just as quick in taking it down.

I read that apology post before it was taken down and was amazed that someone had issued it so quickly. Not surprising they took it down.

According to the World Health Organization, smoggy Beijing ranks relatively far down the list among the world’s most polluted locales, well below cities like Ulan Bator and Cairo.

I've recently noticed that all of my LinkedIn contacts who put Chinese characters in brackets after their names are China-based or China-interested foreigners or overseas Chinese. None of the native Chinese in my contacts bother to do it. I know its the norm on business cards to put a chinese name but is it just a bit pretentious on social media? Is it actually counter-productive in that by trying to highlight your ability to type a few Chinese characters on a computer you actually make people doubt your language skills? Greg - 霍格瑞

Perhaps the title should read "China's princelings learning to master the art of PR". It sounds like a bunch of fluff to me, especially considering the princelings' recent record...

In Beijing, you can quite literally taste the air. But you’d never know it by reading local media reports

THE cost of expatriate labour in China may be about to soar, but expatriates themselves may reap few of the benefits, it appears.
