The Georgia State Department of Transportation provides that in 2013, there were 1,189 fatalities caused by auto collisions. In 2014, there were 1,169 fatalities from vehicle accidents. Even though the other driver may have caused the auto accident, you usually will not be dealing directly with that driver in attempting to settle your claim for damages. Typically, you will work directly with the other driver’s insurance company. It is, therefore, important to gather certain information while you are still at the scene of the accident.

Commercial trucks in Forsyth County can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. They are hard to maneuver and they are very hard to stop when traveling full speed down a highway or interstate freeway in the state of Georgia. Because of their reduced ability to react, fatigued drivers are particularly likely to have difficulty making quick life-saving decisions on the road. They may be less able to think clearly under pressure. In fact, the National Transportation Safety Board has stated that truck driver fatigue may be a contributing factor in 30-40% of commercial truck accidents.

Of all the types of traumatic brain injuries, a concussion is the least serious. However, this is not to imply that concussions themselves are not serious. If left untreated, they can end up causing serious neurological problems. Concussions are caused by sudden blows or impacts to the head that causes the brain to shake violently. The brain is encased in fluid within the skull, so when it shakes violently within your head, blood vessels and nerves can become damaged. Consequently, this can cause the brain to not function normally. Obviously, this explains why concussions are oftentimes an injury suffered by people involved in motor vehicle accidents. When vehicles impact, it causes a sudden blow that individuals oftentimes experience in their heads. The degree of the concussion can be affected by several factors, such as how fast each of the moving vehicles were going, where the hit occurred and so on.

Motorcycle riders face numerous risks. Although motorcycles account for only two percent of all vehicles on the road, they are nevertheless involved in at least 10 percent of all crashes. In 2007, more motorcyclists were killed in crashes than in any other year since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began collecting data on accident fatality in 1975. Motorcyclists who are involved in accidents account for three times more injuries than drivers or riders in passenger cars, and 18 times more likely to be killed in an accident.
