Both times we visited The Mussel Pot, we loved the food. Every dish is uniquely different. The service was fairly attentive, and they were willing to spend time introducing each dish to us and answer our questions concerning the different prep styles. Overall it's a good experience, and I'd love to return again.

First, booked a table through OpenTable on a Thursday Night with a couple of friends, but for some reason, they cancelled my OpenTable Reservation. Parking in the area is not the easiest, expect 20-30 mins of parking space search. The design is of the place is nice, the seating space is a little tight, but that's how it is for most small/medium size restaurant in the city. The hostess and staff are friendly. The beverage selection is just okay; I was expecting a bigger beer and wine selection. The cocktails were decent. For Appetizers, we ordered the crab cake and the lobster mac n' cheese. Crab caje was just okay, while the Lobster Mac'N Cheese is highly recommended. (Although they use to give a lot more lobster before, but overall, it still taste great. ) Ordered 4 pots of mussels: Thai (very good), the curry is very mild, very tasty Valenciana (Good): Lots of ingredients, very flavorful Veracruzana (Good): Tasty but a bit on the salty side. Fra Diavolo (Decent) Overall, the food was good, but I would only come back if i am around the neighborhood and really want mussels. Note: We waited over an hour for 4 pots of mussels. We asked the staff why do we have such a long wait for our mussels, they all said, "I'll check that for you." but never came back with an answer.

I went here with a groupon and got such a great deal on so many mussels! My wife and I were able to split (which is pretty rare for my appetite haha) and the 2 of us still both had a lot to eat. Service was great, super attentive staff. Definitely going back.

One of those places that I can't figure out how to rate. The food turned out to be pretty great, but the server a little odd and inattentive, and more importantly they didn't honor the Groupon deal they put out. The deal my boyfriend bought specified that it included two mussel entrees and two side dishes or two glasses of wine or beer. When we were there, they said it was only good for half off the price of the beer. Considering their inflated beer prices to begin with, that was really ridiculous. I got the Thai mussels, and they were very good. This place is a bit pricy if you're going there without a Groupon deal, so if I wanted to spend the money for good mussels, I'd probably just mosey on over to Flex Mussels. I think if they had actually honored their Groupon deal instead of grubbing over a small amount (~$8), they would have won some repeat customers instead of turning people off. Too bad.

There is no comparison to Flex mussels. The food was disgusting, the service was not too great either. The calamari was over cooked mussel were not was just bad. What made this experience 10 time worst is the fact that I'm an regular parishioner Of Flex mussel..which is incredible I might add and I expected better or even comparable Food. Also what added insult to injury is that the only reason I went to this spot is because I bought a voucher from Living social for 50% off, and my voucher was not honored because I did not notice the fine print that stated the voucher can only be redeemed at lunch..and I was there for dinner. What kills me about the Mussel Pot is that when I called they were bragging about there subpar food..JUST A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME…PLEASE SAVE YOU MONEY OR GO SOME WHERE ELSE.

I went here with a large group from Staten Island on the recommendations of a friend. The food was delicious and we ate like kings. There are so many different sauces to choose from so its better to go with a large group to sample them all. The lobster mac n cheese that everyone raves about lives up to its hype and then some. It's on steroids or something. Over all this restaurant really provides a good solid meal and very good times.

On this, our first visit to the Mussel Pot, we used a Groupon. The Groupon did not reflect what the actual deal was and we ended up paying more. Our waiter blamed Groupon for mistaking what we were entitled to. That being said, the décor is quite nice, the wait staff pleasant and the variety of mussel dishes was exciting. But we do not go to restaurants for the décor, or for nice waiters. We go for the food. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. My mussels were cold and mushy. The broth was so salty I could not eat it, and the French fries were scraps of cold potatoes- not one whole potato in the cone. My friend had the same dish and agreed with my complaints. This was, all in all, a very disappointing meal. Too bad as it could have become a favorite restaurant for me.
