General Discussion  -

"Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner. Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity."

I thought this was an interesting interpretation on moderation and good for contemplation and awareness building. Have a wonderful day all. =)

Yes, I LOVE this part! I personally have always cared too much about others' approval, and have to remind myself frequently of that line. Thank you for posting this.

One of the most inspirational speeches in recorded history was given by a comedian by the name of Charlie Chaplin in the movie "The Great Dictator". 70 years later these words are perhaps even more important. Please take a moment to listen and share if it inspires you.

Interesting perspective.

Quantum entanglement would suggest that across some dimensionality distance is not as it seems. If all points in the universe are truly zero distance from one another and the vast nothingness we see around us is really a framework for data storage and information transfer and between time on the Planck scale, energy is really a fabric of constantly emerging and dissipating energy fields, wouldn't matter be similar to long term memory?

Could the multi-verse be a mind with an infinite capacity for thought? Could this nous speak a logos which immediately willed this physical universe into existence? Maybe all of this has been an argument of semantics and perspective this whole time. Maybe the creatio ex nihlo event of the big bang was the birth of the universe and its creator simultaneously. It certainly does jive well with the Jewish concept of Ein Sof, and I've never even heard a fundamentalist Christian address that topic.

Could a being with an infinite capacity for thought and no sense of time fail to understand everything about everything? It might not be a personal deity in the sense we understand, but maybe it is living our life through our eyes. Maybe we are it. Maybe the entire concept of death and the fear we feel is based upon an understanding so limited that we can't even comprehend the essential nature of the cosmos. Personally, even if the universe is just a dead material with no higher purpose and no universal intelligence, death is a natural component of life, and it is inevitable. Dreading the inevitable seems useless to me.

Readings  -

The ears of someone whose eyes are examining the tip of a fine hair do not hear a peal of thunder; the eyes of someone whose ears are tuning a musical instrument do not see an enormous mountain. Thus when there is a fixation of attention on small things, then there is forgetfulness of great things.

Okay well, it works on my Chromebook, so I guess it's something on my desktop specifically. So weird! I'll see what I can do.

I don't often post gifs (I think I've posted 3 in the last year) so I'm not sorry.

Not trying to make this a rant but I can't believe ppl are still lining up FB against G+. They both have their pro's and con's. I use both and am happy to have that option.

Introduction
Greetings! If I circled you I have found interest in your posts...or you are (un)lucky enough to be related to me. lol.

*I don't post as much as I used to as there does not seem  to be the same level of interaction I have on Facebook. However, I still like to scroll through the posts and find interesting topics. f you're interested in becoming friends on Facebook, here is my profile: Mike Avery

Who I Am

I know a little about everything and a lot about nothing; variety is key for me. I have applied myself anywhere from restoring antique wooden boats to aircraft manufacturing to philosophy. I try not to limit myself as I want the full experience of life. It's not about the destination, its about the journey and I cherish each step of the way. I have recently placed my foot into the entrepreneur circle. This project is definitely one of the more challenging endeavors I have attempted. Anyway, enough about me. I am interested in hearing other people's stories. If you want to share, please stop by for a visit and say hi.

Other notables

~ I'm a free flowing thinker. Who needs a box?

~ Hockey fanatic. Hockey players are the greatest athletes on the planet. Don't argue, I will win this debate every time. Haha.
~ Forever a student and always curious
~ I have some level of interest in nearly everything

This is more to me however I have no intention of writing a novel here. Please feel free to ask questions!

Some Ground Rules

This is a drama free zone. I am easy going and mostly tolerant, but if you want to be removed here is how:
~ Being rude or trolling
~ Spamming
~ Under 18 years of age. This is a personal policy and there's no way to verify age. I will have to assume anyone who adds me, or vice versa, meets this criteria unless otherwise notified.
