When we send our children to school, church, daycare, dance studios, sports practices, etc. We assume those in charge of the organization or business have performed adequate screening of all personnel before hiring them. Why then do we continue to hear about instances like this one, where innocent children are sexually abused. This is such a horrendous crime, because the victims will carry this trauma with them for years to come and it could and should have been prevented.

There are two sides to every Sexual Abuse law suit. The criminal prosecution of the perpetrator and the civil lawsuit where the victim can seek monetary compensation for the emotional/ and or physical damages caused by the inappropriate actions. The compensation cannot erase the event from having taken place, but it can help pay for the therapy and counseling needed to overcome this tragic event. This is where Monsees & Mayer, P.C. steps in to help. We help victims of Sexual abuse obtain the monetary compensation needed, not only from the perpetrator, but from the organizations and other entities that were negligent in preventing the crime from happening in the first place.

The team at Monsees & Mayer, P.C. wish Royals manager Ned Yost a speedy recovery after he fell from a tree stand at his farm in Georgia. Yost was checking the safety straps when he fell about 20 feet to the ground, breaking his pelvis. According to Yost, had he not had his cell phone on him at the time of the fall, he may not have made it. Fortunately, Ned is expected to make a full recovery! As a proud fan of the Kansas City Royals, this firm certainly looks forward to seeing Coach Yost back on the field when spring training rolls around.

Tree stands are beneficial to hunters but can also prove to be extremely dangerous. Make sure to thoroughly inspect your tree stand before use, including the straps used to secure the stand to the tree. Accidents can happen through no fault of the hunter. There are a host of different types of tree stands with a multitude of different accessories. Most are safe, but there have been some tree stands and/or their accessories that have defects in design, manufacture, and/or warning. It is important to keep up on the happenings within the industry. If you have any questions, or if you or a family member have been injured due to a defective tree stand or strap, contact our attorneys for a free consultation.

Our hearts and prayers are with this young woman’s family and friends. The nonuse of a safety harness is not an uncommon sight among hunters using tree stands for a better vantage point. As hunters ourselves and attorneys who handle hunting accident injury cases we know hunting injuries are not uncommon, but the majority of us do not expect to suffer any serious injury while hunting. Tragedy’s like this remind us that accidents can happen.

Please be careful while hunting, inspect your tree stands for any type of wear or defect before using them. Be sure to utilize all safety measures to ensure your safe return to your families. Should you or a family member suffer an injury accident while hunting, we are here to answer any questions you may have. BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Medilodge of Grand Blanc is in the news again. This time the State is investigating allegations such as substandard care, failing to investigate reported injuries and improper conduct.
Elder abuse and neglect is an all-too-frequent occurrence in adult care facilities. We need to correct these injustices and protect the helpless victims of nursing home errors and abuse.
