This is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. The food is always delicious. The service is perfect! From the minute you walk in the door, everyone in the restaurant is very pleasant and eager to serve. My favorite dishes are the pasta primavera and the spinach ravioli. My husband likes the salmon. Great place to get some really good Italian food!

Went alone and got attitude the moment I walked in the door. Waiter took forever to come by. Had a pretty good straciatelli soup but the the Seafood Risotto smelled funky so I sent it back and asked for the check. They charged me for the Risotto. Not going back.

Had dinner there tonight (New Years Eve). 5 adults and 2 kids stuffed in a small round table. It was in the back room and the view was nice but it was freezing! Everyone in that room had their jackets on! They didn't have a high chair for my nephew who just turned one last week with a strap on it so he had to be held the entire time. The apps were just gross. After waiting for about an hour (maybe longer) 3 entrees came. 4 were missing (2 of them being the kids). We had to send back the 3 that came to keep them warm while waiting on the rest. The others showed up about 25 minutes later. I ordered a chicken dish with garlic, rosemary and wine. Well, I tasted none of what I just mentioned. I cook a lot and I know that the dish I was served was not prepared that way!! The chicken was boiled and it was obviously sitting it a huge pan with all the other breasts of chicken being served that night. That food was NOT made to order. It was gross and when they cleared my plate they asked if I wanted it wrapped. My sister started to laugh. I just said, NO. Nobody at our table enjoyed or even liked their meal. I've had better frozen dinners. Our waiter was overwhelmed (and that's fine because of the holiday but we were there at 5pm). I feel bad for those there when it got busy!!! The girls that were working there were all really great at clearing our plates and just being nice. This place just has Gordon Ramsey all over it. No lie!!! Great spot (view is very nice) but the food and the service we got was HORRIBLE!!!! The food being the worst! It's really a shame. Went to Bistro Romano last year on Lombard. BEST EVER! Sorry we didn't go there again. Maybe it was just a bad night here but I can't see all that going wrong in one night. Also sorry we had to pay for it all! What a way to celebrate the New Year.

This was our collectively worst restaurant experience in many years. Our group of six arrived on a Saturday night with reservations on time at 8:00 p.m. We were seated around 8:15. OK so far as we had a nice view of the river from the bar area. It was our first visit to La Veranda. The main dining room was full. Waiters moved at high speed everywhere, giving us newcomers the impression of efficiency and eagerness to serve each table to the utmost of service. After 30 minutes with no waiter having even come near our table to take a wine order, we went to ask the nice hostess for assistance. About five minutes later a waiter came, took our wine order (a bottle of red and one of white) and brought the white wine, but not the red. He never returned to the table. We complained again, and the frustrated hostess sent the manager to tell the waiter to get his act together (we overheard the conversation as they were in the vicinity). Ten minutes more subsequently passed with no red wine. Mind you, we still had not placed our dinner order and it was a hour into the highly-esteemed La Veranda experience! After an hour, we declared defeat, packed up, and left while thanking the sweet and embarrassed hostess for her attempts to deliver even minimal service. For a restaurant of this reputation to allow such an appalling lack of courtesy and service is disgraceful. Needless to say, none of us plan to ever return and we not hesitate to share our experience with friends and relatives.

This was my first visit to La Veranda, although I have passed by the establishment often. To start off with I decided to valet park; the attendant was quick and friendly and most accommodating. From the moment we entered the front doors we were greeted and made to feel at home from the . maître d to the waiter it was top notch service all the way. To begin with my wife ordered the cream of Asparagus soup and I ordered the crab-meat stuffed mushrooms and both were very tasty. For the entree I ordered the T-Bone steak which they cut fresh to order and served with green beans and roasted potatoes. The steak was very big and thick and juicy and tasty. This was my first visit but it will not be my last.

this place should be packed! the food is excellent and the hand cut steaks are the best in town, cooked on an open hard wood fire right in front of you. not "stuffy" the service is "classic" oldworld italian. the views of the delaware, piers 5/3 and marina, offer a unique in-city experience. outside dining on the marina can't be matched in the region, your food woun't get dirty like some sidewalks!
