Lupine looks terrible when it dies back in the winter, but in the summer, our hillside looks fantastic. Plus the bees are very happy.

"Using DNA sequence alone, Venter says that his company can now predict a person’s height, weight, eye colour and hair colour, and produce an approximate picture of their face"

As of a couple of years ago, the only info most law enforcement agencies could get from an unknown DNA sample was "yes this person is in our database, and here is his identity" or "no this person is not in our database and we have no further information". The rate of change since then has been dramatic, to say the least.

I don't know if anyone who reads my posts is a fan of making electronic music, but my son is, so I've backed this kickstarter and I hope you do too!
If nothing else, check out the videos. It's a cool little project!

Interesting commentary on the recent accident with Google's self driving car.
Also "drivers dynamically form their own patterns as needed" is an excellent description of driving in India
A detailed look at what actually happened makes it look like this fender bender is a non-issue, but a valid learning experience for the robocars. http://bit.ly/1SjoTmy

Some fruit is forming on the mulberry cutting I rooted last year. This year I'm trying to start six mulberry, three fig, and three pomegranate, which sounds like a lot but isn't much more than I tried last year. Hopefully more survive this time.

It's comforting to know that even when things look pretty crazy on our planet, there are still international groups of humans working together to advance our understanding of the universe.
