"Wind and weeds"

I went for a walk around the hills of Cooley, Ireland with the thought that I could shoot some flower close ups. Once I realized how extremely windy it was outside, I abandoned that idea and decided to try to work with the movement :)

"I dig your gravity"

I was just over at Flickr and I can't believe the amount of negativity still happening towards the recent redesign!
I gave myself a week of using the new site to decide how I felt about it (although it was immediately obvious that the overall look was a huge improvement) and I can now say that it's a winner for me.
What on earth is the problem? The photos are no longer ridiculously small thumbnails! I can see my contact's images without having to squint! How can that be a bad thing?

Is Flickr perfect? No. But how can this not be seen as a huge, beautiful improvement?! I, for one, am excited to use Flickr again!

"I don't know about you, but I like feeling small and insignificant"

Anytime I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, the towering trees and the stillness and silence of the beautiful B.C. wilderness grounds me and makes me feel like myself again. This place is magical to me.

I came across some horses at the side of the road along the windswept coast of Ireland.

I love the natural beauty of this country.

I'm thrilled that this year's #Mobileography  exhibit at Photohaus Gallery, Vancouver includes 5 of my photographs!!

Opening night was lots of fun and seeing so many cool mobile phone images was totally inspiring. The show runs until August 17th.

"The Enchanted Forest"

The awesome +Johan Peijnenburg pointed out that I hadn't posted here on G+ in ages, which then motivated me to change that! Thanks Johan! :) I'm very behind with editing, so this is an image from this past winter, in the Howe Sound area of Vancouver, where I shot with my buddy +Jordan Oram :)

Introduction
I love photography.
Photography lets you peek into another's soul...and it lets you examine your own.
I have a thing for abstracts and minimalism. I also love macro; I want to see everything up close! I enjoy landscapes and urban settings....I like to explore.

I fill my life with: cycling, hiking, yoga, travelling, gardening. I'm a skeptic, a vegetarian, an animal lover. I love art and design and beautiful things.

I also design and make jewelry, the collection I'm working on currently is made with paper and wood.

My name is Sinéad (pronounced Shin-aid). It's Irish Gaelic, all my family is from Ireland, I'm first generation Canadian. And my nickname is Sam, which is my initials (Sinéad Ann McKeown).  Neat-o.

Tambien, estudio espanol, pero hablo y entiendo solo muy poco. Es muy dificil!

What a gem! This little place might be kind of hidden, but it's such a delight when you find it. The French owners are very welcoming and helpful. They have breakfast and lunch all day 10am-7pm as well as a wonderful selection of pastries and sweets. It's a small space with a few tables indoors and out. The tables outside are shaded and a lovely place to sit on a hot day. La Plaza (where this restaurant is located) is becoming quite the little hot spot for small, owner-run restaurants - and with good reason. It's one of the most charming locations in the village.

It is such a treat to have a vegan restaurant of this quality here in Palm Springs! I eat here regularly and have tried several different menu items. The food is always fresh and delicious. I usually like to sit on the patio, as it's a nice atmosphere with a heater and candles at night, and shade during the day.

This is one of those places that everyone goes to when in Palm Springs...and for good reason! The food is good, the margaritas are delish and the atmosphere is fantastic. In the evenings, the north section of the restaurant, near the bar, plays live music and gets very lively. But, the restaurant is so big, you can ask to be seated in one of the quieter areas if you wish. They have a full mister and heater system on the patios, so it's comfortable no matter the weather. Expect long waits on a Thursday evening due to VillageFest. All in all, it's a fun lunch or dinner spot.

It's not easy to find high quality Mexican food in the Vancouver area, but Charlie's is FANTASTIC! The food is very good. The restaurant is very small, only 10 tables or so, and the decor/atmosphere leave a little to be desired. BUT, the food makes up for it and the service is great. Charlie is always around to make sure everyone is okay. I have eaten here many times and brought friends here too. I highly recommend it.
