I had first experienced Torchy's in Austin a few years ago, and when stumbling upon this one in Houston when visiting, knew I wouldn't be eating anywhere else. Torchy's is a great take on more modern tacos, you won't find standard Mexican street tacos here. There are a ton of normal and breakfast tacos available and they even have craft beer. The tacos are delicious and you can't go wrong, though I love the spice of the insane Brushfire and the tender and seasoned meat of the brisket one. The special taco of the month, with fried chicken and maple bacon was also particularly amazing. Torchy's is fast and amazing and the price isn't bad. The chips and spicy salsa are also quite good.

The main complaint is that Torchy's is overpriced. Partially true but the food is good and filling. Two tacos will run you about $8, which is expensive if you compare that to Taco Bell but the quality is so much better. I like the Democrat, Green Chile Pork, Crossroads but my favorite would have to be a "trashy" Trailer Park. And the Queso is a must. Come early because the lines get long and out of the door. And waiting outside in the Houston heat is not fun.

The tacos are really good but a little overpriced. I ordered the Brushfire which was delicious and the Green Chili Pork (which had no green chili) which was very dry and poorly seasoned. I went with a group and had to sit outside. A few members of my group were pooped on by birds. The food isn't that good, that management should ignore such obvious customer satisfaction concerns. Heard the baja shrimp and fried advocado was delicious.

Awesome service. Great tacos and food. One time, of many times we've come, our to go order was wrong. We called and Wilburt the manager took care of us. We came in and he made sure that we got what we missed and then some. So appreciated. These guys take care of their customers and they look they are having fun doing it. Thanks guys!

I love this place. Their food is just fantastic. I don't drink sodas much, but they happen to carry the kind that has real sugar so it is a treat to get one when I go here. Always busy so be prepared to wait in line! Normally the line is out the door and seating can be hard to find almost anytime of the day. Parking around here can be tricky too, but this isn't their fault. Go and enjoy, great staff and food!!

September 2015's taco of the month "Tipsy Chicken" is the best taco ever!! I usually stick to my usual, Trailer Park - trashy, but tonight I decided to try something new. It was definitely worth it! <3

Torchy tacos remind me of being back in Austin... if you are into veggies or vegan finally a place to indulge without compromising quality and taste... can get a little spicy though but Worth it... I have probably had almost every veggie-item on menu that Avocado, and meatless Dirty-Sanchez (which you can replace with any item you want) for that price keepps a long line... so be prepared to wait... but you can have chips and salsa while you wait which is another experience...

FOOD: The Democrat with the mild tomatillo sauce (4$): beef barbacoa, avocado, queso fresco on 2 corn tortillas. The avocado slice on this taco was huge! It was a good normal taco. Not my favorite taco in the world; not my favorite taco price in the world. The Chicken Fajita with the chipotle sauce (3.55$): wow. Just realized I got jibed. I ordered the beef fajitas. Too bad I can't look at my recipe since they didn't give us one. Anyways. The chicken fajitas were dry. But the sauces and pico made it better. The Republican with the diablo (3.25$): jalapeño sausage, cheese, pico de gallo. This one. I don't even. No. Just no. Okay that's not fair. The diablo sauce was pretty good. My main disappointment was that our food came out cold. We waited in line for 20 minutes + 15 minutes on food. I expected the wait. I did not expect cold, clearly not fresh food. When questioning the staff about cold food, the kid (bless his innocent heart) had to ask another person. The two were confused as to what to do or what the problem was. I hinted to maybe reheat it. Thank goodness they had the sense to "refire" it. I don't know if they reheated it or not but it came back 3 minutes later. It was better. It wasn't super hot but at least it was heated. Busy. The staff who were passing out food looked flustered. So was the cashier. So obviously they weren't friendly or helpful. Will I come back? F*** no. Will this be the last torchy's visit? probably not. Just never at Rice Village.
