Clothing and supplies drive for Puerto Rico!

The Center for Global Initiatives has a second Global Take Off trip to Puerto Rico planned in May, and they have partnered with the Romance Languages Department once again to collect supplies for communities recovering from last year’s devastating hurricane season.

They will be accepting donations until April 27th in the CGI office, suite 3000 of the FedEx Global Education Center.

Currently, they’re collecting the following:
- batteries (AA, AAA)
- battery-powered flashlights/lanterns
- personal hygiene products (toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, etc.)
- small power generators
- basic camping equipment
- non-perishable food
- lightly used clothing for all ages (keeping the warm climate in mind)

YOU'RE INVITED - Southern Culture Movie Series!

This film series is designed to be an entertaining and critical introduction to the American South, and most films are accompanied by commentary from a topical expert. While intended especially for international students and scholars, the series is open to everyone! Many of the movies in this series are available at the Media Resources Center.

All screenings are:
- Thursdays at 6:30 PM
- in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium of the FedEx Global Education Center
- FREE with refreshments served

PREMIERE - Aftermath: Puerto Ricans Rebuild After Maria

This film is a collaborative work by students in the Documentary Multimedia Storytelling course at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that explores the environmental landscape and ongoing health ramifications in Puerto Rico after the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. in the FedEx Global Center Florence and James Peacock Atrium for a reception with light refreshments. At 7:00 p.m., we will gather in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium for the film premiere.

The event is free and all are welcome to attend!
