The Florida Highway Patrol says 47-year-old Francis Peter -- driving in a City of Sarasota Chevy 15-hundred -- was going northbound on u-s 41 when the pedestrian walked into the path of the truck.

The impact killed the pedestrian.

The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Harry Ziegler of Bradenton. The driver, Francis Peter, works in the utilities department at the City of Sarasota.

Manatee County Deputies are looking for two people they say held up a Bradenton business on Monday.

It happened at the 5200 block of 33rd St. E. just after 4 p.m.  According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report, two men entered the business "Nail Tech" brandishing handguns.  The suspects demanded money from the employees.

Police have released the identities of the two people found dead in a North Port home Wednesday that is believed to have been a murder/suicide.

Two Manatee County Sheriff's Office Detectives recently resigned after the 2 men got intoxicated at a police conference and were involved in a number of events where their behavior was unbecoming of an officer.

A deadly accident tied up traffic during the morning commute on Fruitville Road in Sarasota Today.

The crash happened on Fruitville Road, between Cattlemen Road and Paramount Drive around 7am.

A recent audit revealed that over 2,000 pieces of drug evidence were "lost" or mishandled including 830 pounds of marijuana and 31 kilograms of cocaine.

However, many of the issues are said to be caused by clerical errors or errors with their outdated tracking system.
