Understanding exactly how Palm could drive itself into irrelevance in such a short period of time will forever be a subject of Valley lore. There are parts of the story that are simply lost, viewpoints and perspectives that have been rendered extinct either through entrenched politicking or an employee base that has long since given up hope and dispersed for greener pastures. What we do know, though, is enough to tell a tale of warring factions, questionable decisions, and strategic churn, interspersed by flashes of brilliance and a core team that fought very hard at times to keep the dream alive.

Ten years ago this month, The Wire premiered on HBO and… almost nobody cared. The Baltimore saga of cops and dealers, junkies and politicians, poverty and hope, polarized critics, was ignored by the Emmys, constantly struggled for ratings and faced cancellation more than once. But it also inspired a future President, created a bona fide American folk hero, and helped launch the current “Golden Age” of television. Now for the first time ever, the creators, writers, cast and crew recall the making of an American classic.

Of course they forget about all similarities and parrot all the differences. Butt really, how different is Fire to all the others Android tablets. All applications that run on Android will run on Fire also. But for me the main problem till now on the Honeycomb platform was that it was not embraced by mainstream public, where up till now, Apple has taken all the spotlight from all of its competitors.
Amazon can change that.
And once people realize that there is more than one toy to play with, people will slowly start looking in the other directions too, because Amazon can't cover all the bases all the time.
And if Amazon does just that, it is a big success from Android point of view. Bigger app selection wouldn't hurt but it will come over time eventually.....i think.
