Just got what I expect to be the final version of the left hand board for stenomod, my steno keyboard. This shot shows what the new Gateron clears look like. Black bottoms and clear tops. The right hand board should get here on Monday. If it works as well as this one then I'll be ordering a larger quantity and get ready to sell some!

Another baby step. This is almost the production board for the left hand. The pins for the Arduino are a tenth inch too close together. They still work, but I'll fix it for the next run. Tomorrow I hope to submit the right hand board, and in about two weeks I'll be able to put the whole thing together!

I gave the tenting setup almost a week. I just don't like it. I never quite know where the keys are without looking. This will be my standard setup for awhile on both my computers.

An update on my steno keyboard progress. I'm trying out two different styles. A flat, separated keyboard on a tripod for my laptop. And a "tented" setup for my desktop.
Next step, redo the PCBs to eliminate hand wiring. The boards will be a little smaller too.
These both have Gateron clear switches and G20 keycaps. I'm sold on both of those.

New G20 keycaps from PimpMyKeyboard.com. Much better than the old ones. At least so far. The TD combo is not so difficult now. Having flat tops like this is a good thing.

Another steno keyboard. This time with my own PCB. Baby steps. The next. PCB will be smaller and require no hand wiring as this one did. I plan to experiment more with the base and the hand position.

Here's an example of how fast and efficient steno can be.

I had a tripod already, free from a friend. I bought a velcro strap at REI  For about $2 and here's my keyboard on the tripod.

Okay, I made one more keyboard. I like to have a backup. Better looking bottom plate and pretty colors, but otherwise the same as the last one. Source code (Forth) at https://github.com/CharleyShattuck/myforth-arduino
