Wow
The Great Horned Owl

The owls I commonly see and take pictures of in my yard are Eastern Screech Owls. We occasionally hear the hooting of the Great Horned Owl from around the neighborhood at night, but I've never actually caught a glimpse of one before. Yesterday, however, I caught a glimpse and caught a picture to share with you, too.

This isn't actually in my backyard, but in that of my neighbors two doors down. I'd heard there was an owl on top of their playscape a couple of days ago, and yesterday in the early evening they gave me a call to let me know it was back. So I grabbed my camera and hurried on down to have a look. I was worried that the owl would take off when I went out the door, but I lucked out and he stuck around just watching as I took pictures. My one regret about this shot is that it's hard to get a sense of scale with it. This owl is way bigger than the screech owls I normally post.

Somewhat related, my wife mentioned that it's about time for me to build another owl house to replace the one we lost to the bee swarm. We now have a bee bait box to attract a swarm if it happens by, so I'm crossing my fingers that we'll have a good spring with owls this next year.

+Stephan Hovnanian Good reminder, we are working, working hard to get people to find us for our business. One sometimes forgets how easy and how many people can hear and see what you are doing. This is truly a double edge sword.
Reminder: someone's always watching
The content we create on social media, whether it be as posts, comments, shares, all reflects on us in some way. We get to know our tribe, those who support us regularly, subscribe to our emails, send tweets, and comment on our blogs, FB and Google+ posts. But for every person in our tribe there are many, many more people who are just watching.

Also, as you put yourself out there online, new faces will discover you every day. Some through recommendations of people they trust. Some through search. Some through other people's audiences. Some through other algorithms. In each case, they are going to get an impression of who you are by the way you handle and present yourself.

There is no right or wrong way to do this, and everybody has their own brand voice that they'll refine over time, and through interactions with those who help them find that voice. Sometimes you'll stumble (I know I have), and hopefully you'll come out better for it on the other end (I know I have). Maybe that'll happen here on this post, who knows.

And right, wrong, or indifferent, you will be judged by people on how you handle and present yourself online. It's human nature. Just realize it, understand it, and understand what makes you you. Then, your tribe will consistently look to elevate you to be your best.

Just wanted to throw that out there for anybody watching :)
