Once again I am forced to conclude that nobody actually did any programming before, e.g., Google and StackOverflow.

I have distant memory of "manuals." They were like books, usually, but sometimes they came in three ring binders too; but that was only for the weird old stuff you had to use in school lab.

Today's project: biking up Mt Tam just to have pancakes. SORTED. The route out of Sausalito was half paved roads at fuck-your-life grade and half unpaved switchbacks at railroad grade. Alba's rear tire slipped A Lot. Determined that, no, 1.25" Panaracer tires are only kind of okay offroad.

Tonight's project: configuring Flask, drinking beer. The one before the other.

The Lezynes are really great, from everything I've heard.

I just sent out an email seeking comments about something I actually believe in and badly, personally want to have exist. YOU GUYS. What is this feeling? Is it... belief?

Come for Charles Carreon and Orly Taitz vs. everything in the universe. Stay for the penis sandwiches.

Meh. I'm so close. SO hiss CLOSE. I need somebody who knows more about debugging (simple?) supervisor processes than a bunch of random blog posts. I've exhausted what Google can tell me. halp? :(

I think I've solved it!
Solution was just to run the commands I wanted from the command parameter of my /etc/supervisor/project.conf file. Originally I was following directions to write a shell script and call it from the conf file. That sucks for those of us who think bash is a forgiving environment. :)

a'yhow, YAAAAY. and thank you two for offering help.

Python really has a long way to go as a web-architecture language. This is ridiculously dumb:

"Finally we use the run() function to run the local server with our application. The if _name_ == '_main_': makes sure the server only runs if the script is executed directly from the Python interpreter and not used as imported module." -- http://flask.pocoo.org/docs/quickstart/

(I'm dorking around with Flask, because not everything must needs be a Django app. I'm sufficiently underwhelmed to think I might junk it and use web.py again.)

Possibly a lot of my original disgruntlement was piecing through the mixed bag of responsibilities thrown into the hello-world example, which is no great sin for an example. Off to go split some tasks out, now that this app's outgrown that...

Yes, the Nathan Myhrvold of mosquito-lasers fame, also Modernist Cuisine. Fuck this guy. Sincerely, fuck this guy.

OKAY SO. Thingiverse. I guess you-all have your work cut out for you: doing for design fabrication what small publishers are trying to do for written publishing. Fortunately, you were there first?

Yay. :-/

I got to tour Intellectual Ventures Lab a couple weeks ago. I guess if you're going to be an evil IP vulture, it's better that you're doing all kinds of amazingly cool stuff with the profits on the side? Left me very conflicted -- I've never been a place I've wanted to work at and simultaneously did NOT want to work at as much.

A nice overview of setting up vim as an IDE: http://bit.ly/PaQfI9

I can't live without the Command-T plugin.

I'm taking the watered-down web version of Stanford Algorithms I. All I can say about Week 1 is: I AM FUCKED.

Hm, Prof Tim made some comment about the homeworks being somewhat watered down. I don't remember to what extent. But the courseware is pretty great.
