Churchill's Darren Rogers computes that 28 percent (56) of the horses pre-entered for the Breeders' Cup ran at Churchill at some point. Thirty-two won at Churchill, including 16 stakes-winners. Of those, 11 won stakes this year, five at the September meet (Cigar Street, Cristina's Journey, Don't Tell Sophia, Lucky Player and Thank You Marylou) and six in the spring (California Chrome, Untapable, Tapiture, Midnight Lucky, Southern Honey, Marchman).

After going 4-for-4 on synthetic surfaces to start his career, Conquest Stables LLC’s Conquest Tsunami will seek his first victory on dirt in Sunday’s $58,000-added Street Sense for trainer Mark Casse.

In his most recent start, the 2-year-old son of Stormy Atlantic finished sixth in his dirt debut, the Breeders’ Futurity (Grade I) at Keeneland. Casse’s Churchill Downs-based assistant trainer and son Norman Casse said the Street Sense should be a better indication of Conquest Tsunami’s ability to run on dirt.

Made up of the Governors Cup, Valley Victory, Three Diamonds and Goldsmith Maid, the Fall Four Stakes has been an annual showcase of the best freshmen in the sport.

Wayne Hughes calling an audible, the two-time Eclipse Award-winning filly will not be on the block at the Fasig-Tipton Sale on Nov. 3 and instead will remain with Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella for the time being as she recovers fully from a fever that forced her out of $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff next Friday.

Paul Hanagan shot past the 100-winner mark for the calendar year with a treble at Leicester.

The dual champion jockey was pleased to reach the landmark after enjoying his best season in terms of prize-money thanks to big victories on Taghrooda in the Oaks and King George, and Mukhadram in the Coral-Eclipse for his boss, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
