The app will be back in fdroid very soon now that it is possible to build a Free version of the app. This version lacks location reminders and Dropbox functionality, but on the plus side the apk shrinks from 6MB to only 2MB.

New translation tool available! Crowdin makes translating a breeze! Each string even presented with suggested machine translations.

Due to changes in the Terms of Service for the Play store, NoNonsense Notes will no longer accept in-app donations. Theme-switching will thus be unlocked for all users at the end of this month.

The changes to the Terms of Service state that authors of paid apps, or apps with in-app purchases, are now required to:

- Display their address publicly in the play store.

While it is certainly quite trivial to locate my home-address with a little detective work, that is not the same as making it available for simple web-scraping in the play store.

- Reply to customer support e-mails within 3 days.

While I have really tried to reply to all e-mails I get, it is not possible for me to guarantee a 3 day response time 365 days of the year.

So, I am removing the element of the app which puts these requirements on me.

+Leif Sikorski Possible, but Google has not really specified what constitutes an adequate response.

Anyway, it is mostly the other issue that seals the deal for me.

It surprised the hell out of me when I was making flowcharts and realized that they were useful!

It's been a long time coming. 5.3 has been uploaded to Google Play. You can get the apk from github:

https://github.com/spacecowboy/NotePad/releases

I'm still not satisfied with Dropbox stability so that stays in the beta version for now.

Changelog:

# New features:

## Synchronize your notes to the SD-card
Saves your notes as text (.org) files. Combine with apps like OwnCloud or BitTorrentSync for an alternative to GTasks.

# Other changes:
* Date and Time selectors now use the new Google calendar style
* Fix a bug with scrolling in the preferences
* Many other tweaks and fixes.

Got side tracked the last week :)

I needed a file picker for my Android projects that had two primary properties:

1. Easy to extend: I needed a file picker that would work for normal files on the SD-card, and also for using the Dropbox Sync API.

2. Able to create a directory in the picker.

This project has both of those qualities. As a bonus, it also scales nicely to work on any phone or tablet. The core is placed in abstract classes so it is easy and clear how to extend the picker to create your own specialized versions.

The library includes a picker for normal files on the SD-card.

Compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich and above.

Current progress on plain file storage.
So step 1 of the process to a proper Android client for org-mode is more or less complete. The library can be found on GitHub . It's a plain old java library that builds a jar file which can be included in other projects. It has one requirement which is included in the lib -folder: Joda Time .

The app checks if it is installed. Perhaps the system returned an old list of installed apps, or the app checked too early. Try having both installed and then restart the phone and open the free version.

Stuff should be simple, free and synchronized
Introduction
A basic notes app for Android. The aim is to be simple, free and open source.

If you want fancy features like images or hand writing, this is not the app for you. Check out more capable projects like Evernote in that case.

But if all you want is a dead simple place to put some text you don't want to forget, look no further. The app synchronizes with Google Tasks to keep your stuff safe in the cloud with your Gmail account.

If you want to help translate the app, just go to translate.nononsenseapps.com
