Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

My wife and I had dinner at Jake's last night to celebrate her birthday. While it was mostly full, we had a very short wait and were seated on time (we had a reservation). We had a seat by the window with a great view. Clayton was our server and did a great job. Food delicious (including the Hula Pie). Our glasses were never empty. Highly recommended.

The food is amazing. One if those restaurants with a small but varied menue, and every entre is special and delicious. The view is outstanding, being directly on the beach. Service is 1st class without being pretentious. This place is a must when in Delmar!

Incredible food and staff. Part of the TS restaurant group, I've always enjoyed my trips in to Jake's. Really great bar and dining room staff, you get a somewhat different experience in the two areas, both great. Make sure to book a reservation if you want a table in the dining room, it books out pretty solidly, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

This is a great place to eat with wonderful views. Service is spectacular. Parking is an issue, so plan ahead, or prepared to be flexible. However, if you use valet, you shouldn't be a problem.

Love this place, beautiful view, good food, good drinks. Only gave four stars because I'm not a huge fan of Sunday brunch with them but lunch and dinner is awesome! Had the seafood pot with mussels, scallop, some type of white fish, shrimp and saffron rice, it was a bit salty for my taste; I think I would have preferred it if it was more of a chowder or bisque. I've been here for there lunch and dinners and those were fantastic!

Lights up the beach at night. Great seafood. Reasonable valet. Self parking often full, street parking north of restaurant. I had the scallops last visit, yum!

Drove from Chicago. Was told this is was the place. Called in the morning to make a reservation for two by the window. Walked in here 15 minutes for the reservation waiting to be seated. Some beach bum who I helped in the parking lot strolled in behind us with no reservation and was given our table. After waiting 30 minutes in a dark restaurant we decided to go outside and look at the ocean and the sun set. I've never given anybody a bad review but if the shoe fits. Don't waste your time at Jakes del mar!!!! • • •

Great staff and awesome location, with enclosed spaces right on the beach. They also have a reasonably extensive gluten free menu. Food overall was a mixed bag - no one at my table disliked their food, but only half the table was thrilled with their dish. I would definitely go again, it's a good high-end restaurant with a casual vibe.
