I'd like to follow on from this post by +Trillian Petrova yesterday...
Trillian Petrova originally shared:

JACOB HOLDT

in vienna i came across a photobook by +Jacob Holdt, a danish photographer, who made at least about 15.000 shots with his $30 canon dial of racism, poverty, sex, drug use, crime, violence, love, wealth, luxury, nudity, death in the u.s. between 1970 and 1975. i was flashed by his work instantly. his photographs are of an outstanding clarity and intensity with a total lack of aestheticism. he has a g+ account but i don't know if he is active.

please check out his work on his website here: http://www.american-pictures.com/gallery/index.html
you can stream all 15.000 photographs as a photobook or a movie-slideshow. you can also purchase his photographs via contacting him.

i would be glad if +Masters of Photography would promote +Jacob Holdt on their stream.

If you are looking for something different from your portraits, go and pick up some fluorescent tubes. They don't cost much at all and give a whole new look to your shots. I picked up two for nothing from http://uk.freecycle.org/ Lots of fun!

Exposures are longer and the shots will need to be colour balanced either in camera or during processing but its worth it. To get this effect the model was laying on a sheet of glass (carefully) with the tubes above her across two stands. Just shot down between them.

Yes , the river is great for water reflections, and the town is full of seagulls , makes it feel like a seaside town even though it's a few miles from the coast .

A tree line just outside Florence. This was cropped for instagram but thought I'd post anyway. I really liked the random heights to the trees in this, it goes against the uniform lines usually associated with Tuscany.

Thank you +Trillian Petrova ! After speaking only yesterday to Trillian about her post (shared below) I was fascinated by the work of Jacob Holdt. I jumped on the phone and ordered myself a copy immediately, thinking I may struggle as according to his own website, the book had sold out. After a short conversation with the very helpful sales clerk at http://www.buchhandlung-walther-koenig.de/ (another very helpful tip from Trillian) they found a copy and put it in the post. Its here already! Who doesn't love service like that?!

Anyway, got me thinking about other great and inspiring photographic books out there hidden away on shelves begging to be shared with the world! Personally the most memorable for me was at college. I discovered Brandt: The Photography of Bill Brandt and was fascinated by his nudes and use of perspectives. The cover photo on this book has to be in my top three portraits of all time. http://www.amazon.com/Brandt-Photography-Bill-Jay/dp/0810941090/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_2

I would love to know, does anybody have and recommend a favourite or memorable influential Photography book?
