Ugh. Just as I'm trying to learn how to promote my business on social media, FB is making it more and more challenging to get my posts in front of the people who already LIKE my business!

If you ever get a chance to take a glass class with Patty Gray, jump on it!! :)
Scott is "raking" molten glass under the watchful eye of the glass artist Patty Gray. Scott had an adventure in September: He took a five-day workshop with the amazing glass artist Patty Gray held at Fusion Headquarters in Ne...

This is a new piece that Scott launched into after last week's debacle. Scott doesn't let anything slow him down for long, not even the disappointment of seeing one of his projects come out of the kiln broken. He immediately ...

We need opinions on which way to slump this gorgeous piece of glass Scott made. Check out the photos in the blog post, and then let me know what you think, ok? Thanks!
This side was against the kiln shelf when originally fused, and therefore kept more straight lines. You can also see the points where some of the blocks of glass started out. Scott has made another intricate piece of glass sh...

That's my baby, skating figures and wearing one of my hair pretties that I made specifically to match her skate dress. Can I create a business niche making hair pretties for competitive skaters and other teams? Who knows, but I can definitely try! :)
Photo by Cooper Mountain Photography My skaters are headed to Nationals, and while it hasn't quite shut down our business as they prepare with extra practice and coaching sessions, it has certainly added a lot more busyness t...

Happy Independence Day, America!
Photo taken by Scott on 7-4-2012 at Cook Park in Tigard, Oregon The Fourth of July is a great day to have a birthday (at least in the U.S.) because, hey, what other day of the year are you guaranteed fireworks? :) And most p...

Life is about learning, right? I'm learning like crazy, now! :) And that's OK because I don't think it would be as much fun to play with glass if it didn't make me stretch and learn new things.
After fusing but before slumping. It's hot here in Oregon, so it seemed like the thing to do was to work with some hot colors! I also wanted to play with some copper foil we bought on one of our first trips to Bullseye Glass...

Start getting to know Ellianna, a third-grader who's been making art as long as she can remember, and then some. She's a critical part of our creative family business, and arguably the most commercially successful of the three of us. :)
Ellie checks out the manta rays at the Albuquerque BioPark in July 2013. Ellianna took her first art class at the ripe old age of 10 months old. It was a parent-and-child class called Art Babies offered through our local comm...

Happy Friday!    Check out what we've been up to this week!
Currently in the kiln: Making frit balls, fusing to smooth edges on Scott's striped piece, and using some clear powder on a couple of my pieces in hopes of avoiding sandblasting and improving the glossy look. Meanwhile, here ...

I guess asking for feedback on which side to make the interior and which the exterior turned out to be moot. When Scott opened the kiln last night after a fire polish / tack fuse, this is what he found. :-( Our best guess (thanks to helpful feedback from the awesome folks at Bullseye Glass Co. ) is that it was thermal shock from heating it too rapidly.
Remember back when the only decision was which side should be the inside of the bowl?  Just a matter of days ago, we were debating which side would be best for slumping into the inside of the bowl. Scott did a bit of coldwork...

Time to get back to business now that we're finally home from the national roller-skating championships in ABQ. My skaters didn't bring home any medals, but they skated well and had fun!

Heh. So true -- I was waiting for friends at a movie theater last night and could swear that I was the only one who wasn't mesmerized by a tiny screen. People-watching isn't nearly as interesting when they're all doing the exact same thing.
